The trade that keeps on giving. Cruz was one of the two prospects we traded for Michael Soroka.
Hilariously, Soroka is 4-0 with a 2.60 ERA in 5 starts for the D-Backs so far this year.
That one won’t go down as one of Hoyer’s better trades.

Absolutely unbelievable end to that one!Two of the best teams in baseball, Cubs versus Dodgers, featuring a generationally famous player in Ohtani, and the Friday night game is blacked out of MLBtv in favor of AppleTV.
I don't even know why I bother with MLBtv anymore with the constant blackouts.
Anyway, go Cubs. Beat the Dodgers.
Cost me a win in fantasy, but that’s OK. Got a nice start out of Sheehan and 10 Ks. I can live with that as a consolation prize.Woke up to see another comeback win to get to 10!
Go Cubs! Fun to watch!
He's in a tough spot just because he's not a guy who's used to coming out of the pen. Add the Dodgers to the equation and it's less than ideal.Assad throwing meatballs.
last night for sure felt like almost a throw in the towel game. Save the much beleaguered bullpen for another day. But I disagree that Taillon didn't give them something to work with, he battled through it well and gave up one bomb to Smith, outside that he fought well. And the cubbies had something to work with, so much so we came back. Taillon has fought pretty hard so far this year. He's in a tough spot just because he's not a guy who's used to coming out of the pen. Add the Dodgers to the equation and it's less than ideal.
The writing on the wall was early that this wasn't going to be the Cubs night. For as much of a savior as Rea has been, he was awful tonight. He was falling behind hitters and at 70+ pitches going into the 4th. When the pen is as beat up as it is......the starter has to give you something to work with. The last two nights out, neither did. Taillon let up 4 in 5 innings and tonight Rae gives up 6 in 3 1/3.
Taillon used everything that he had in the tank. It's an incredibly big ask, but with the bullpen so insanely short right now, it can't be good enough to just get through 5. The starters are going to be tasked with getting them through 6(at minimum) with 3 or fewer runs every night. I believe that is what the "formal" definition of a quality start is.last night for sure felt like almost a throw in the towel game. Save the much beleaguered bullpen for another day. I can't remember a time where a team had to play 13 days in a row without a day off and had to travel to and from the west coast. And in April before makeup days piled up.Taillon used everything that he had in the tank. I 100% agree with you that Counsell knew he had to flush that one after the 4th. What's added even a bigger challenge to this is that they're in the middle of a 13 day stretch with no off days. How they figured out winning 10 in a row is incredible.
