death, taxes and imanaga giving up a homer. right as I type this he gives up another to give the reds the lead back o_O
edit: now three homers through 4+. I dont think I trust him in a playoff rotation
I can’t imagine he’ll be in the mix. Holmes for sure, probably Boyd. After that, I really don’t trust anyone else. Gausman is as likely to get drilled as he is to pitch well. I kind of like Peterson but I’m not sure Counsell does.

Good thing it’s just a game or i’d be going nuts right now. Lose 2 out of 3 to the Reds at home?

The weird thing is they did what seemed like the hard part, cobbling things together with all the pitching injuries to get to the trade deadline. Now a bunch of the pitchers that got them there have fallen off and out of the three big additions they added, only Holmes has been good. Now this seven out of ten with Milwaukee has nothing to do with the division but wild card positioning instead.

Anyone have any idea why Milner was cut loose at a time when the Cubs need bullpen arms?
Because Trent Thornton and Caleb Thielbar are dating Craig Counsell's ugly step sisters? Note: I started to type daughters, but they are both too old for that.

Also, what has Colin Rea done to piss Counsell off so all he gets are mop up innings in a 17-5 game while Thornton comes into competitive situations?

best manager in baseball. 😵‍💫

It took most of the season, but we have battled our way back to catch the Phillies. Next target D Backs

I‘d like to see Nico in the lead off spot. PCA as 2.
You absolutely, under no circumstances, take PCA out of the lead off role. He's going to win the MVP in that exact role. You don't mess with that.

Nico's OBP(.318) is the lowest of the 9 guys they threw out there last night. If anything, until Swanson gets back, he should be hitting 9th in an effort to have people on base when PCA comes up.

Truth be told, Hoerner is not having a great year offensively.

Coming into this game the Brewers had a run differential of 177 vs 127 for the Cubs.
now it’s Brewers 163, Cubs 141. Closed the gap on a meaningless stat.

great night tonight, holmes was great again. unrelated to tonight but Assad needs to be on the active roster. I have no idea why he keeps getting sent down. he's better than some of the bullpen arms and certainly better than Shota

As previously noted, Rea is now our mop up guy for 17-3 games. Got to keep Thornton and Thielbar fresh for.the close ones.
I don't get it. Wouldn't you be better served pitching someone like Palencia who could use a no stress outing to get him on track ? Better yet, let Arias pitch.....unless they're going for the coveted run differential championship.

How many games this year have the Cubs faced a position player on the mound?

I feel like it was a few times a season in the past. Now it seems to be once or twice per month.
