And a lot of the losses have been by 1 run and late in the game. If we can continue to improve I think we can fight for 100 losses.

Regardless of what the final won-loss record is... this Sox team is way better looking than the composition of last year's. There is youth on this club and there is talent there. They are in most games and are already competitive.

They've got their catchers... two good young infielders... and some good arms. And if Robert stays around and can find his game again... they've still got a center fielder. And it looks like they may have a Manager now, too.

Bullpen appears to be biggest gap, and that's addressable. How many games have we been in until the starting pitcher goes out? A lot...

At this point in the season the White Sox are winning about 32% of the games. If this holds for the entire year the Sox will win 52 games.

Last year the Sox won 41 games so this would be an improvement of at least 10 wins. And there is a chance that they can start to win a greater percentage as the young guys get more settled in as Major Leaguers.

The Sox have become a tough team to play. Last year they just played like surrender. This year they’ve got some fight in them.

I'd agree. Pitching and bats have come alive recently. I'm blindly optimistic and looking for 60 wins. I have a couple of (irrational) bets riding on it for some bourbon.

Who would have believed that Baltimore would only have a couple more wins than the Sox on June 1st this year? That would be – NOBODY.

Sad times in Crab City.

Saw this report on on Sox farm hand with whom I was not familiar.

Tanner McDougal, RHP, Chicago White Sox, 22, A+

I went to Spartanburg on Saturday. Mostly to see Jeral Perez and Braden Montgomery, but McDougal stole the show. I saw him pitch last year, but he has ticked up even further this year with his fastball and showed a solid four-pitch mix.

McDougal tossed seven scoreless innings with just three hits allowed and eight strikeouts. He needed just 83 pitches to complete the seven innings and landed 77 percent of his pitches for strikes.

What impressed me the most about McDougal was the fastball. He sat 97-98 mph for the entire seven innings and even clipped a 100 mph. The curveball was a highly impressive secondary, missing a ton of bats with good depth, sitting in the upper-70s. The spin rates are absurd on the pitch and it is late drop to keep hitters on their toes.

McDougal also featured a firmer slider that worked in the upper-80s to 90 mph with a sharp movement profile. The changeup is not used often, but it is a solid pitch.

If McDougal can throw strikes like he did on Saturday, he is going to be a good starter. The year-long walk rate of 11.9 percent is concerning, but over his last five starts, that mark sits at just 6.8 percent.

So the Bears are planning a new stadium somewhere closer to the Wisconsin line.

And now the Fire is on the path to build a new stadium on the South Loop side that The Sox Owner had a chance to and so far has not.

And so, that’s leave the White Sox with... with... with... what exactly? Everyone else is on the move and doing things and White Sox Ownership is doing... what exactly? Other than losing lots of baseball games, that is.

It looks like what the Fire did in grabbing The 78 Site finally movitated the Sox Owner into doing something dramatic. All Sox fans know it's about time.
isn’t this Fire Stadium being proposed on that site in a way that the Sox Stadium could be built north if it ?

Nice update on Colson Montgomery written by Chris Clegg. Would be huge for Sox if he can fully turn it around and become a viable top end prospect.

Colson Montgomery, SS, Chicago White Sox, 23, AAA

What a wild season it has been for Montgomery. After slashing .149/.223/.255 with a 42 percent strikeout rate in his first 103 plate appearances, Montgomery hit the development list. While hitting the reset button mentally and mechanically, Montgomery has returned to Charlotte and looks like his old self.

Despite dealing with a knee injury, Montgomery still blasted two home runs on Thursday, and has four total with six doubles in 87 plate appearances since coming back. The slash line sits at .253/.356/.493 with a 21.8 percent strikeout rate. The numbers before and after are striking.

Under the hood, the power has looked good all year. Montgomery has a 115.3 mph max exit velocity and a 90th percentile exit velocity north of 108 mph. Surprisingly, the season-long zone contact is north of 85 percent, and the chase rate is below 30 percent for the season.

But, since returning the contact rate is up to 79 percent overall and 89 percent on pitches in the zone. The chase rate has dropped to 24 percent and his 90th percentile exit velocity is 109.7 mph.

What an impressive turnaround for Montgomery.

Teel gets his first major league hit as well as picking up two walks yesterday. To top it off, he also threw out his first base stealer.

He'll probably move them to Nashville.

What will White Sox fans do if they move the ball club out of town?

How many will remain Sox fans anyway?

How many will become Cardinals or Tigers or Brewers fans?

How many will give up on MLB entirely?

How many will become huge Chicago Fire fans?
