Just a first step, but a big one. Congratulations to the young Sox. And congratulations to all of Sox Nation that has endured some really tough and dark seasons to get to this very enjoyable 2026.

For the White Sox and Sox Nation, the playoffs should be a yearly thing like it is for some other organizations. We need this great rise into the playoffs to become a regular thing.

This Season has already been a great success. It’s time now to make it an even greater one.

What a strange Chicago it was in 1906. That was 15 years before they built the first White Castle anywhere. How can you have a Chicago without White Castle in it!? This was 21 years before they put the first short runway down to create the beginnings of Midway Airport. I believe that dinosaurs were still roaming the South and Western suburbs.

But at least The Sox won the AL Pennant that year finishing just ahead of teams like the New York Highlanders and the Cleveland Naps. The 1906 Sox had a 19-game winning streak that year in August.

The 1906 Sox had great pitching. That was also the core element of the great Sox teams that ran from the early 1950s until 1967.

The 2026 Sox got just enough pitching to get where they are today. But that is an area that needs to be settled down more in the coming years.

For sure. Starting pitching has been a glaring issue all season with injuries, etc. If not for a couple starters outperforming their career averages, this season would not look the way it does. You simply cannot tax the bullpen consistently, but Venable did what he had to do to get a winning record and postseason berth.

With that said, I am very happy that Getz avoided digging too deep into the strong farm system at the trade deadline. The Castillo trade looks like a complete bust, but they gave away junk anyway. This team is not constructed to win a World Series yet, but they did exceed expectations, and that will be beneficial to the young players in the coming years. I trust that Getz will address the needs of the team in the offseason and that 2027 will be an even better club than this good team.

Welp, time to load planes to a Texas destination.

Cleveland is rolling into postseason.

Might as well beat Houston or Texas and then sweep Cleveland on two weeks.

Cleveland has done it. They wrapped up the AL Central. How did they do it? They went wild, and the Sox went cold.

On August 16th, Cleveland was 60-65. Since then, Cleveland has gone 25-11.

On August 16th, the Sox were 65-58. Since then, the Sox went 18-20.

So the Sox went mediocre at the same time Cleveland went on a big run. They went out and grabbed it.

But the Playoffs means everybody starts back at even. Let’s see the Sox win a playoff series. That would be a great accomplishment to what’s been a fine season of fun and team growth.

In any case... the Sox did quite a lot with a patchwork of starting pitching without a clear shut-down guy ever stepping forward.

Potential change in game time and network for Game 3 would depend on how many series are still being played on Thursday.
