I don't think so this year but his agent, plain to say, makes Illini fans uncomfortable. I know it's his job...
Brad would have to take a discount to go to Kansas State right? When he was making low $4Ms I remember they couldn’t match our offer, and he is currently scheduled to make $4.8M for next year and I would imagine we already have a raise in the works to take the salary into the $5Ms.

Brad’s agent would almost certainly take a pay cut if he went to KSU which seems to go against his incentives

Yeah, there are a few programs nationally that can outbid us ... I doubt KSU is one of 'em.

This.
And no coach above 60 would leave a top ten program (nationally) with abundant resources for a struggling program.
Why on earth would we want to go through a rebuilding effort again?

Could he leave in a few years once the landscape in basketball changes again and the Illini faithful want more youth? Sure (Lou in NM). But I don't see it happening when we're leading the charge in the portal era.

Brad is currently the 8th highest paid college basketball coach so there are 7 schools paying more than us and there are maybe 7 other more who can come into a bidding war with us if they really want. KSU is not one of them that I agree so I am not too worried this year. Arkansas is one of them though but I just don’t feel like Brad is leaving us for Arkansas.

Edey 2 Games-13-23 for 28 not efficient, 5-5 for 10 points
Crowl- 5-12 for 11
Wahl-9-14 for 20, pretty efficient
Hall 7-9 for 22 efficient
Reese 6-8 for 18 efficient and 8-16 for 20 not really efficient
Garcia 12-23 for 29 not very efficient along with some contested 3's
Nicholson 6-7 for 12 efficient but not gonna kill you.

My whole point is if teams want to throw it into the post 20 times a game just to score 24-28 points.....coaches will take that.
24 points off of 20 times into the post is 1.2 points per possession which would lead the nation in Offensive Efficiency.

K State has offered Tang a contract equal to what Arkansas has offered …

Interesting …

Would you say Kentucky, Arkansas and Florida as top three? Seems so weird UGA remains so bad, lol, they really are the Illini Football of college hoops, lol.

Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas ... In that order ... Bama is not far behind nowadays ... Florida is very much a distant 5th but still above the rest ...

And I think there is a BIG drop-off after that ... Just talking basketball ...

Wow, I TOTALLY forgot Tennessee, lol.

Would Florida be above Auburn and Tennessee?
I don’t see how Auburn is better than Florida. They literally just happen to be better right now. UF has the better built-in advantages, IMO.

Lack of respect for rules, decency and cultural norms scares people whether in coaching ranks or in wider society. I don't like Wade or his ilk.

I remember a few years ago....can't remember if it was under BU or Groce, but Mennenga who was assistant at Oregon and from Rantoul, was a guy we really wanted to bring in..... is he a commodity in the real coaching world, or just to us because he is from Illinois and was at a high major?? Quick google search says he might be at UIC now?

No real reason to ask this, just randomly thought of it, and since we have a guy who knows literally ever guy connected to anything and everything...you got any thoughts, @Indy Illini Fan ?
Seems like Mennenga’s name was bandied about (on the board at least) when Antigua and Chin split for Bluegrass Country.

I didn’t know that it actually had some traction. I just remember random chatter about it. (Apparently he’s a solid recruiter.)
