Are they also calling Brad Stevens and Gregg Popovich, just to cover all bases? Or are they all in on Coach K to UK?

Usc football and basketball are messes, due to both inside and outside factors. Huge hire in Lincoln Riley and a Heismsn winner… how’d that translate on the field? Good coach with top recruits in basketball…. How’d that work out? Basketball in particular, the actual games themselves seemed secondary to β€˜hey, I’m bronny’ and their nil deals. It’s set up there to garner attention, not necessarily win in my opinion. If I were already making millions, why would I move to California for a job I could be out of in 3 years, likely with head trauma?
They also have a new AD. Who didn’t exactly build MBB at her last job at U of Washington

I imagine Brad will at least be on the list for Kentucky though not at the top.

First phone calls should be to Dan Hurley, Jay Wright, and Brad Stevens but all of them seem very unlikely.

The next tier I would guess is Nate Oats(huge buyout) and Billy Donovan(Bulls season goes another 2 weeks).

The next tier after this is probably Scott Drew.

Following tier should probably have Brad, Kelvin Sampson, Tommy Lloyd, Greg McDermott, Otz(though don't know if his style would fly at Kentucky), Bruce Pearl, and Matt Painter.

Honestly, if they strike out on the top tier options this year could see them maybe going after Slick Rick as a bridge option with the understanding he would retire/resign after 2-3 years and they find their guy.

And to all of them, including the one who gets the job, Cal says with smugness and Juwan-like entitlement: ""YOU'RE WELCOME." $$$$$$$$

I think Kentucky will get Billy Donovan.

Oats has too big of buyout.
Don’t see Scott Drew leaving Baylor.
Underwood I think is too old and underwhelming for UK fanbase to accept.
Dan Hurley ain’t leaving UConn after 2 titles.
Stevens has been out of coaching for too long to consider.

Billy D makes the most sense and he’s never winning anything for the Bulls. I’m assuming Kentucky will pay him quite a bit more than the Bulls do

I don't understand the interest in Billy Donovan. College hoops today isn't remotely the same game that he excelled at nearly a decade ago.

If it's Drew ... Things get interesting for us ... Tang to Baylor ... K State will make a run at Brad ...

If UK doesn't want to pay Oats ... And Drew says no ... Things get REALLY interesting ...

Ideally we need it to be Oats ...
I wanna like this, but actually dislike it in reality unless the pessimist in me is just reading this wrong

He was an assistant at Kentucky under Pitino. Was one of the best coaches in the NCAA at Florida taking them to 4 final fours and 2 titles.

Since then he's coached in the NBA for roughly a decade.

Yes the college landscape has changed but I'd argue that's probably beneficial for Donovan since he will make a killing in the portal with Kentucky's resources and he can sell his college success and NBA credentials.

Yeah it should be easier than ever to coach in college if you are starting with a team that has the payroll of Kentucky. Way easier now than 10 years ago when each team had to recruit.

The only college jobs that are worse off now are the mid major jobs that have no NIL and having to worry about your best players being poached each season. The blueblood jobs have gotten even easier.

Kentucky could go after Jay Wright too. I would think he’d be in high demand
