I wonder if Musselman would leave USC for Kentucky. It would be pretty crude but people have changed their minds before.

Arkansas will definitely have a crazy run of 5 years with the top recruiting class but I think I prefer muss over cal.

Also for those who fear that Tyson chicken money remember this.... They couldn't close on their greatest recruit....

the old money is certainly segregated from the rest of the state, but that's not just arkansas.

Rumor has it down here there is a players only meeting at Cal's house at 2pm eastern. Expecting official announcements shortly after that

That's exactly what I suggested to try to bring Boynton here, fire one of the non-recruiting assistants (not Brad's son) and give Geoff same salary and maybe a new title, but just not as much recruiting. Make room for a really good recruiter and higher profile assistant that would be a big upgrade to the staff overall.

Sounds like he's considering that for OA, just not Boynton
I mean you might be able to kick Hamer to the the Assistant to the head coach role that Geoff used to be.

If he is not involved in recruiting anyway then he could do it without really changing his duties.

Put me in the camp that this is a bigger win for Kentucky than it is for Arkansas. Kentucky got what they wanted and will have a better selection of coaches to choose from than Arkansas has had including Calipari.

What makes them think Calipari will have better success at Arkansas than he's had at Kentucky? Kentucky has every measurable advantage, and Muss has had more recent success than Calipari who is 65.

Sounds like maybe Cal was able to inspire the boosters to fund the program to new heights but besides that Calipari seems like a downgrade from Muss.

Hunt Trucking and Tyson Foods are located in Arkansas. Jerry Jones is also an alum. I don't know how many of the Walton clan donate to U of Arkansas, but some of them are donating to other colleges.

The simple answer is that there are 33 million reasons why Kentucky is making out better than Arkansas in this situation. To me, it was pretty clear that Kentucky was very comfortable holding the door open for Calipari if he wanted to leave. Kentucky will be able to reset their buyout market with the next coach's hire, at least to a degree.

You can only have 5 assistants, so Brad will have to let someone go to make room for OA and OA will want to/should be a recruiter, so if you let Hamer go, you need to move Geoff to a non-primary recruiting role - he can still evaluate kids just won't be as active on the recruiting trail as the other 3

RE: NIL, has anyone in general seen a list of the wealthiest Illinois alumni?
Two parts to the equation, having the $$$ alumni but also their willingness to spend it on Illinois athletics. Think we have made great strides here in the past few years, especially on the basketball side, but probably still not at a level comparable to the big SEC schools.

That does not meet the definition of a "players only" meeting.
ok arguing over things that don't matter at this point, he is meeting with his players at his house at 2 pm. Technically players and coaches, misquoted that part but just pointing out a meeting is happening then official announcements to come
