Very true, though to my point about Pope not exactly being the cultural embodiment of Kentucky basketball I was trying to think of a comparison for us.

What if the solid-but-not-spectacular coach of like, San Jose State were Damir Krupalija?

Are we feeling like we've recaptured the essence of what Illinois Basketball means?
Can you run me through the criteria you used to come to that?

I’m genuinely curious. I don’t remember a lot about Krupalija.

I still do not know/understand why one of the best defensive players in U of I history (CF), was not responsible for the defensive game plan. That's my understanding from those that post on this Board.

Imo. It is a good thing assistant coaches take new opportunities. Want to go back to Weber and Groce where no one was interested in their assistants?
While I never want to see an entire staff turn over at once, I absolutely want Illinois to be a program where assistants move on to better opportunities. Ideally, one every 1-2 years or so. If you're a program that's known to develop future head coaches, great assistants will want to come here. That brings new and fresh perspectives to the program.

SOME turnover is a good thing for a program - just not too much.

Just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean you’re good at teaching it.

Not necessarily insinuating anything but I also think the staffs responsibilities are set up a bit different than just giving a recruiting assistant the D coordinator role as well, might be too much.

In my view, Chester should have been in charge of defense. Unlike offense, it is ALL ALL ALL about heart and athleticism. Chester has heart in spades.

I ran defenses for my HS for a long time and I am well aware that I have zero ability with offensive sets (other than memorizing the ones given to me). I just think a passionate coach can get guys to play defense almost regardless of team philosophy. (I wrote ALMOST, in case that was missed).

It's just a fancy title ... 3 off campus recruiting assistants ...

Those that know, is it 3 off campus recruiting assistant coaches, or that only 3 assistants are allowed to be recruiting off campus at any given time?

If it’s the later, I’d think you could pitch some guys on getting weekends off the road as you rotated duty through the assistants.

Not to be rude, but i don't think it is kosher to come in here, say "coach frazier, amani, and sincere have all just announced theyre leaving" and then not provide a tweet, an IG post, or any sort of source. If you know something, say how you know it. Otherwise you're just dropping grenades in the club house and that's no fun
