So, I’ve had my coffee, and I’m thinking.

Is (and if?) Chester leaving really THAT big of a deal? It sucks losing an alum, and don’t get me wrong I love CF. But, Brad won’t give him the keys to the defense so he isn’t a big factor there. He has landed us some good recruits but how many of them have panned out or even stuck around?

I feel like this is similar to when we lost OA and Chin…Brad has another opportunity to replace him with a person that has new and great connections for recruiting or X’s and O’s

Am I off base?

The timing just really sucks if it was a week ago and we could get Boynton - it would have been an upgrade, a great recruiter and Brad’s defensive X’s and O’s Guys from his previous stops and who would have had some top guys in the portal he could have brought with him

I’m sure Brad will get someone very qualified but the added bonus of bringing talent with them is likely tough now

It’s Brads job to upgrade the talent every year.
That's the thing that I don't really understand if Frazier was frustrated with that. This is a HIGHLY competitive business. If the players you are recruiting are being recruited over, work to recruit better players.

I will always think highly of Chester Frazier, but this post nails it. The talent has to get better every season. That's just the way it is. It will be very interesting to see how Frazier does at WVU. As I've stated in other posts, I think highly of Darian DeVries and feel WVU has a good chance to be very competitive. Chester Frazier will have many opportunities to prove what he needs to prove, and I hope he does that very well unless they play Illinois.

Thought it was very interesting that Cam Corhen wasn’t an immediate target of ours. He’s barely been mentioned on here. Iirc Indy said Chester had been waiting for him to enter the portal.

I know Epps didn’t tear is up elsewhere. But if Chester is advocating for players to play and for recruits to be recruited, and they arent made a priority, it makes sense he would want to go see what a team of his guys can do.

Sounds like Chester may be taking some talent to WVU with him, so not necessarily the case that it’s too late.

Josh needs to ban nepotism now. Lovie drove coaches away with this BS. Tyler Underwood has no business on the staff. I’d be really irritated if that happened at my job. Totally unprofessional.

Optics wise it looks bad to lose an Alum to a lateral move. Comes off as dissension in the coaching staff. If it causes Hansberry/Harris to bolt it’s one hell of a mess to clean up.

Underwood chose Chester for a reason. For the relationship to go off the rails this quickly is not a good look. If Chester wasn’t an alum this would be easier to take but nobody bleeds orange and blue more that Chester
