Was just poking fun at the rumors that TA didn't like Tyler getting what he considered nepo/favoritism and that he'd choose to sit out a whole year rather than deal with it. Didn't realize he was still getting paid to sit on his couch though....changes things a bit aha

Don’t talk ish about your boss behind his back then subtweet about him on Twitter

College coaching is a well compensated but brutal business. If folks are willing to make a former player and coach the public enemy #1 because of name-calling and social media stuff, grow some thicker skin. There are several current/former Illinois coaches and players who have done many magnitudes worse and are still beloved around here.

There are plenty of "brutal businesses" out there in the world. Can't think of any of them where you can get away with trashing your boss behind his back and on social media. If there is such a workplace, it doesn't sound like an environment that would attract anyone worth their salt.

I'll hit the buzzer and answer "What is politics?" Or why do most Americans hold such poor regard for our elected officials.

Not shocked that would happen at any CPL school. I'm sure it's happened many times before, Irvin is just the latest installment. There was a coach in StL that won multiple state titles that was found to be doing the same thing. Rinse and repeat.

The guy must realllllllly not like Tyler lol
I'm guessing if he had taken a coaching job somewhere (which would be difficult to find - not many teams looking for assistant coaches mid-season) then he would have to resign his position with us (rather than be "on leave of absence") and would no longer be able to accept his salary from us. Who on here wouldn't rather take a paid year off from work over finding another job with similar, or even slightly more, pay?

Transfer portal and NIL has changed college sports forever.

HS recruits are much less coveted as they are unproven, unlikely to be immediate contributors, and can transfer out at anytime. Illini starting 5 - two new Europeans, 2 new JR portal, and 1 new 5th year portal. Riley and Morez play important roles but are not starters.

JMO - assistant coaches that specialize in HS recruits and limited international connections are less valued than they were pre-portal.

Someone on one of these boards mentioned he started an Academy in Champaign. No further details.

But then there are also some former Illini greats who have done far, far less than that and are constantly derided. I mean, people have turned on Bardo for the crime of not slobbering over his alma mater on national telecasts.
