Guess that's what I was saying. A 3 point shot ain't worth nothin' if you ain't hitting any, lol. And we ain't. (Sorry for the ain'ts, just bugging my wife and mom in Heaven, lol. Annoyed the hell out of them.)

I completely agree with what you said but I'd double down on especially with saying that with what we're supposedly in nil as a fan base we truly should be demanding more as a fan base.....

Techbically, it's the expected value of points from three points shots versus two points shots. Probability of making the shot times number of shots.

You only need to make 33% of your threes to be the same as making 50% of your twos.

Of course, we aren't hitting threes even at 33%. But, to be fair, we also aren't making twos at 50% either.

The bottom line is that we just stink right now.
57.1% 2 point shots made
30.3 3 point

Only Riley is below 50% from 2, and Booth, if you want to include him

Brad has definitely hired great assistants whether he could keep them is the better question

I'd be fine giving Brad more time to learn how to make better adjustments and whatnot as he grows as a coach and hopefully gets us over the hump. He's rebuilt our program from the trash heap, and that earns him a lot of points.

But it's the nepotism. That is such a a deal breaker for me. If he can't see past that, I'm going to struggle to not want a change. If Tyler were actually qualified and good at his job, that would be different. Instead, he (and Hamer) are in roles that are well out of his league and nepotism is the only explanation.

I don't know the story behind Hamer being so prominently featured.
See Ben Humrichous as the reason why Hamer is so prominently featured. Brad adopts certain guys, gives them prominent roles, and is too stubborn to change the errors of his ways.

This is a repeated theme

i find it funny that everyone is going after Tyler- nothing was said last year when we had a top 5 rated offense, or even this year when we were rolling and our ratings were top 10 in offensive efficiency. Look the offense is set up for pick and roll and our guards to read and kick to open shooters. That part is working. If you take an honest assessment we are getting wide open shots. Exactly what the offense is set up for. We just can’t make them. And yes, maybe the coaches missed on these portal guys, but all of them have shot a worse % from 3 than last year. I think a big mistake that Underwood made this year is scheduling so many top 15 caliber teams knowing that we are young and relying on so many freshman. The big ten is a tough conference, we don’t need all these non conference powerhouses.
When the offense runs, it seems to run fine, even if it looks a bit disjointed. The team seems to do best when they are making the the inside cuts and for wide open layups.

My complaint is that when they are weaving looking for the mismatch, and struggling, they are allowed to continue until someone takes a bad 3, and then the same thing is allowed to happen on the next possession. If they struggled on one trip, I expect them to go up the floor with a play called the next trip. If they are still struggling, call time out.

WOAH! Very interesting comments by Painter. We make fun of IU fans a lot for how delusional they are. Do we need to look in the mirror and realize we might be similar?
Man I have a ton of respect for this guy. Still want to drub ‘‘em when we play them, but probably the most stand up coach in the game, and they win (for the most part). Great combo.

Agree with what he says and yes, I do agree, there’s parallels to what he’s saying about IU and what we’re talking about here with UIUC. The one caveat I have is my leash with this stuff has gotten a lot shorter with NIL (and soon to be salaries). I was always on the “support them at almost all costs” in the old days. When you’re cashing big checks, you’re a professional now and the standard gets higher. Other than that, I 100% agree with painter

Oh very much so. Or at least no better than fan bases the board likes to laugh at. I find it amusing that often after Illini (football or basketball) beat someone that we’re especially happy to beat, a poster will comment about that other team’s forum having a meltdown. My first thought is, have you not read a postgame thread on here when we lose, especially to a team we probably shouldn’t lose to?
