Brad has established a program here. He's not going to Texas. He's getting to be in his 60s now. I fully believe he has his sights set on retiring as an Illini coach within the next 10-13 yrs if he sustains success for the next decade. He's been here for 8 years now. He's 61. He's not going to start over elsewhere unless he gets fired
I tend to agree that underwood finishes at Illinois. However, why wouldn’t he tell his agent to stop sniffing around?

I heard that Bill Self never paid any player.
If mafia movies have taught me anything, that I'm sure Bill self never directly handed money to anyone...

Because being top10 paid coach needs more money

In a move that seems a bit of a head scratcher, La Salle has hired Radford head coach Darris Nichols. In his 4 years in the Big South, he finished T-3rd, T-2nd, 8th, and 4th (in that order) in the conference.

There is zero doubt in my mind that Bill Self never handed money to a player when such payments were theoretically illegal.

There is also zero doubt in my mind that Bill Self knew which players were being paid and a reasonable approximation of how much when such payments were theoretically illegal.

(Why yes, I have family members who are engaged in the legal profession for thelr livings!! :D )

I didn’t read the original post since I have that person on ignore, but it feel pretty safe saying “nuance” is not part of that poster’s tool kit.

IU fans might not be impressed (are they ever?) but this would be a good hire for where IU is currently at as a program imo.
I mean, IU has pretty much tried everything else since Knight.

Promoted assistant who started as an interim (Davis)
Mid-Major up and comers (Miller, Crean)
Power conference coach with questionable ethics (Sampson)
NBA experience/IU alum (Woodson)

"Coach doing more with less at the power conference level" hasn't really been checked off yet unless you consider Sampson in that category.
