Anyone have a feel for if Kwa Jones or Tyler Underwood will be replaced with new coaches? Or do they stay and we just add someone like Ben Johnson?

Personally I’d like to see 3 new experienced coaches added but doubt it will happen.

No, I wish we would win the same and were at least competitive in every game. There is a difference between a team pulling away late in a game and getting your a$$ beat from the get go. Maryland is Brad’s Kryptonite, I think they are in his head too. If we play them again, by chance, this year, are you confident we would be any better?

Collins seemed like he would be a lifer there but good for him.

Porter Moser would be a good get and wanted to leave Oklahoma for the DePaul job last year. Maybe Oklahoma decides they want to move on this year.

I also think Hoiberg would be a solid hire if Nebraska wanted to move on though his first stint in Chicago didn't go super well. Then there are a number of talented mid major coaches if they went that route.

Tyler gets a lot of crap sometimes, and yes he's not as experienced as we might like, but the offense has not really been the issue since he started. I would expect the other two to get replaced. We'll see though, I have no inside knowledge of the program, just a fan.

Exactly. We have a top 15 offense this year. Had a top 5 offense last year. Tyler’s not the problem. We need to do a better job with evaluations (Booth was a big miss) and defensive coaching, which has been a big problem both of the last two years.

Maybe that “tears welling up” portion of his post game interview was the straw that broke the camel’s back and he realizes he’s responsible for those past decisions and he has to correct them?

He’s fine for a 5th AC, researching and working with the players. He’s not qualified to RUN a P4 offense. I don’t care who his dad is. He may be some day, but not now. A head coach sees when something isn’t working and makes changes during a game because you work on it in practice and you have already taught them how to do it beforehand. You don’t wait for a Duke game or MD game to say “we need to make some changes”. BU talked about running a special play to free Will. When I watch our games, I see NO ingenuity in play calling. I see standard actions being run. Some work. Some don’t. Then, we go iso or hope Tomi finds an open cutter. That’s always an option. If MD shuts down the lanes, we have what we got last night, no movement “and just better defense “. WRONG! A good offensive mind can always take away an aggressive defense because there’s a tipping point at which you take advantage of their zealousness IF you know how to counter each move. That’s a skill that only maybe 5 - 10 percent of the coaches today possess. Brad isn’t one of them and neither is Tyler or Hamer. Rant over!

A staff of Antigua, Tyler, Alexander, a good X-O defensive coach, and someone who can evaluate talent-particularly guards since I trust Antigua to do that with bigs until more proof shows me differently-would be a good staff.

Hamer has to go. There is no objective reason to keep him. It’s just business, and he’s clearly not currently suited for the role.

Whitman needs to be pretty firm with Brad after the season is over. If Brad comes in with any of his “market analysis”, Josh needs to tell him he’s done his own market analysis and it tells him he needs two better assistants. If Brad doesn’t back down and looks hard at other opportunities, that’s the game.

I'll venom someone $50 bucks to go place some moving boxes and tape outside Ubben with a sign that says “For Hamer.” Take a pic and dm me with your Venmo ID.

I look at other succeasful programs and it appears from the outside looking in their head coach oversees the offense and defense. They are also in the huddles drawing up BLOBS, SLOBS, and all other OBS. Is Brad simply the face? Or, are we just not as in tuned to other programs and the assistant are in charge of all these things?

I'm really curious about this?

I think we're seeing more and more "coordinator" positions in college basketball. Obviously, the head coach has final say, but at the power conference level the head coach also has a lot to do outside of X-Os. Here are just a few examples of this "expanded coordinator" role that I've seen.

Pearl's kid at Auburn coordinates their defense. Mike Burgomaster's official title at Auburn includes "offensive coordinator" in it.
Jeff Linder left a head coaching job at Wyoming to handle the offense for Grant McCasland at Texas Tech. The Athletic had a great feature article on him this week.
Luke Murray does a lot of work with UConn's offense.

Hell, Payton Sandfort took over the coaching duties Thursday for Iowa after Fran was ejected. He had the coach's chair in the next timeout huddle. :)

So I think the "coordinator" role is becoming much more common in the college game.

Thanks. Any idea if Sandfort is available? He did a heckuva a job and I'd take him in some capacity, lol...
