I would say given the addition of Dent at UCLA (and knowing that price tag was above 3M) that Cronin is probably not going anywhere
Dent got over 3???
That is nuts.
Saw him play in person a cpl times vs UNR and hes good but I cant imagine hes worth anywhere near that.

I promised an update …

Here’s what I’ve got …

Reason for Mack not going to Xavier … AD went rogue and against boosters … Pitino better win and win big …

I expect Willard to Nova …

Buzz Williams to Maryland is “done” if Willard goes to Nova and I’ve heard Chester Frazier would likely join Buzz at Maryland … Could see Buck and Hansberry at Maryland … Wouldn’t that be something …

I’m hearing if Tennessee goes out strong this could be it for Barnes … Same goes for Izzo … I’d put both in retirement watch but nothing set in stone …

Lastly - I am hearing that Texas A&M would pursue Brad if they were to be in search mode …
I am not even anti-Underwood, but that is so A&M it ain't even funny

Oh yeah? Did she recant the visible cuts, abrasions, and bruises that were observed and photographed by the police?
The point is that in her retraction she said that she was the instigator of violence and he was acting in self defense. It’s such a messy complicated situation that know one will know 100% what happened that night except Beard and his former fiancée.

I get that. And that's why I absolutely never want to see Beard employed by Illinois. Even if you take everything in the light most favorable to Beard, it's damning. Taking the most sympathetic interpretation of the story, he still could have just walked away from the situation. Instead he beat her up. Nobody would be ok with this if she was their sister, daughter, or mother and he was some random shlub. But because you don't know her and he wins basketball games, a bunch of you will trip all over yourselves to defend him. Pathetic.

That’s a fair position to have.

Strangulation would also imply that he overpowered her at some point and kept going, even if it started out as self defense.

I am concerned about expressing this level of certainty when there are, in your own words, ifs and interpretations (which you deign to label "most sympathetic").

I think this level of closed-minded judgementalism, in the absence of better knowledge of the facts -- whatever they may in fact be -- is troubling.

I wish everything in life was so simplistic and everyone behind the keyboard was so pure. Life would be so grand. My guess is that none of us here will ever have to worry about this ever happening.

I did read the TSJ police report. It was an amateurish report full of contradictions, charges that canceled themselves out, written a month after the incident happened and backdated incorrectly. The Beard report, conversely, was credibly written the night of the incident with detailed descriptions and pictures. Night and day between the two.

Are you seriously comparing a person drinking too much to assaulting your significant other?

Actually agree with you. Just said there was no choking and recanted her accusations. I don't want Beard either. I'm just a bit sensitive to broad statements of guilt, esp with what happened with the TSJ circus of accusations and assumed guilt.

We've got at least one more year of Brad IMO, and likely one change in staff (Hamer?). One more disappointing year (I guess defined as this year or worse) and Josh will have confirmed the plateau of the program.

Did Chris Beard's attorneys get a chance to do the same? Was their a trial I don't know about?

@Indy Illini Fan I’d say it’s to the point that a quality assistant would have serious concerns of coming here.

Numerous (all?) assistants have recently left under less than good terms including for reasons that two current assistants have too much power and influence. A high quality assistant doesn’t want to come here and work for Tyler and Hamer. Coaches have just left for that same reason.

With all the discussion about nepotism I decided to look up if Richard Pitino had ever worked for Rick Pitino, since it seems like Pitino isn’t someone whose moral compass points north, nor would he give a care if it wasn’t looked at positively by fans.

Was surprised to find out it doesn’t look like he ever coached under his dad.

I don’t know what that says, but it says something.

Might want to check again. Richard did go out on his own for his first 3 seasons, but he then worked for his dad at Louisville from 2007-2009 and then came back and was the associate head coach from 2011-2012.

But he did put in 3 years at smaller schools before he got an assistant job at Louisville. I don't think anyone is saying you can't ever work for your dad. But many think it is a bit nuts to get your first assistants job at a P5 school, especially one that has legit Final Four aspirations.

Golly, when I looked it up he wasn't charged and she recanted her statement? Am I missing something?
