He is your International guy though. the Euro agents love him. I don't think it'd kill us if he left it's just so easy in Europe for us with him though.
Well first off, it is a good thing for your assistants to get head coaching jobs, but also does Alexander have a unique skillset?

I get that he is the one that has the relationship, but the Euros also know the program. Couldn't a new guy jump in and keep that relationship rolling? It's not like he'd be starting from scratch.

I think you are over-estimating the brand value of Illinois basketball in Central and Eastern European countries. Plus, just because you are aware a program exists and see that they've had success, doesn't mean you want to commit to move and change your life to work for that program. Having a friendly face and someone that is trusted by folks in your circle goes a very long way when deciding to move thousands of miles from home.

NIL is a powerful tool, and often closes the deal, but you are not even in the conversation without relationships.

Hi 0440 -
Changing directions - just replying to solicit your insight....

I assume that a big part of OA's recruiting prowess (and value) is related to his reputation as a big-man developer. Agree?
It would further seem to me that OA could/would/should make significant game planning and adjustment recommendations based on how to best utilize "his" guys.

Thoughts?
Did you watch Ivisic play offense for us this year? I think they used him pretty well.

O … Geoff … Mike B … Yak/Samarrippas … Tyler …

Hamer FIRED … Kwa demoted to what he was originally hired to do …

Ideally …
Indy, with Brad’s comments last night in the presser about having the best staff in basketball, is this even realistic? Was Brad just being thankful for getting through a tough year or do you think that is his true belief?

I mean, did we actually expect Brad to trash his coaching staff in public? Brad has to know that staff changes need to occur, or Josh will remind him of it.

Did you not see him kick the scores table yesterday? or him leave the sideline interview and chew them out? or the report from the halftime locker room?

or earlier in the year when he cut up and bruised his right hand so bad he had it wrapped up in a towel and couldn't use it to shake hands after a game? He is still the same Brad.

Brad had noticeably more fire the last 2 games …

And I know many people don’t get to see practice but Brad lit into these guys many times privately … He didn’t do the fart noise or call out leadership to the media but he definitely did privately …

There’s a difference between saying “we’ve got a good staff here” versus “we’ve got the best staff in basketball”….
Irrelevant minutia in my opinion. As the head coach, it falls on him how good or bad his staff is. Regardless, you don’t want a head coach who is subtly taking shots at his assistants in the last press conference of the season.

Who cares, its PR speak. Makes absolutely no difference either way so I wouldn't waste mental energy worrying about what Brad is saying in pressers right after a loss. This is the same guy that said Mark Smith is the second coming of Jason Kidd publicly, while privately running his charmin soft self out of Champaign.

Yep. Not sure you want to diss your staff while you are recruiting players. Actually, not sure you ever want to diss your staff. You chose them.

Sure. No question. ... Morez too.

I'm probably in the wrong thread.

Seems like OA's perspective on how to best use our bigs should be huge emphasis on both ends of the court - he's their advocate.
Anything designed by Tyler or Hamer that isn't optimal for his guys should be challenged.

i.e. PnR defense, etc.

Man I must have been really distracted or didn’t really watch BU as much this year.
He really seemed like a kinder gentler Brad.
🤷🏼‍♂️
Glad to hear the reports of a$$ chewery and scoring table abuse!

Brad ain’t soft …

Did I want to see more fire in game at times ??? Absolutely … Not even necessarily at players … But even towards staff and officials … Not sitting down with Tyler … Stand up … Coach and chew people out … Work the officials … Be like Izzo … People can hate it but it WORKS …

Credit where it’s due … Brad had the fire the last 2 games …

When can we expect dominoes related to our staff to start falling?
