I don't buy the fear of the Big East. I think they earn too little (even with a lot of money going to football in other conferences). We also don't really know how the enforcement of NIL restrictions will go.
Alabama basketball will always play 2nd fiddle to their football team. It will always be a football school.

I’m sure he wouldn’t “only” leave for Kansas. And I’m not sure it would be much of a restart given our recent success and resources. I’m sure some players would follow him also
I’m also sure he would leave Illinois for a blue blood when the time came
Wake me when Tyler and Hamer’s raise gets approved….
Seems like he could go straight to a blue blood from Bama. He’s had a lot of success there. How long does Oats wanna put up with that …
Oats said it after the game … Gotta get that 1 seed … Easier to get a 1 seed in the Big Ten than the SEC …
He had to beg on his hands and knees just to get P Murph $675,000 …
Depends on the source, that user must've been citing Kenpom. (I just confirmed and those rankings you mentioned match up.)Somebody in the last thread wrote Illinois finished 3rd and 14th in offensive efficacy the last two years when in fact we finished 9th and 29th.

I'm not even going to start getting my hopes up. He's at Alabama until the Kansas job opens up. Self can't be too long for KU with his health issues, can he?![]()

A fan base (and donors) that cares about round balls.I’m asking this earnestly as I’d love for it to be remotely plausible - and I’ll even add that I of course understand why JW would make that call, as it’d be a beyond incredible hire to make in the event it could be made -
What can we offer Oats that Alabama doesn’t already?
