What makes Kansas such a better job than the other two? I get Michigan with football, but I’m curious why Lloyd would want to leave Arizona. Outside of brand, I struggle to see why there would be that much of an advantage to be at Kansas in the modern era.
Especially since both schools are the favorites to win the title this year with their current resources, consider me a skeptic either of them entertain leaving. I bet both UNC and Kansas end up having to go down their lists to settle on someone like Byington and Oats

Wow, UNC just redefined “elite”. Based on their high bar, the are competing with a lot of other programs for a very small list of elite coaches.

I don't understand the allure. He has a good think going in Akron. The American, while a slight step up, is still a single bid league. Financially, the job doesn't pay much, if any, more once due to cost of living differences. (A ~400k raise and Tampa costs vs. Akron costs; An equivalent Tampa house is probably 2-4M) Maybe he (or his wife) really wants to live in Tampa vs. Akron.
An equivalent home in Tampa probably runs in the 600k to 800k range and not 2-4M. It’s more expensive then living in most Midwest cities for sure, so to your point his money will not go as far with a comparable income. I have a feeling his bump in income will more than compensate that difference.

Serious question: is UNC’s athletic director respected by those candidates? Seems like Bubba Cunningham is getting a ton of bad press for his recent decisions.
The more important question is how respected is the incoming AD? Bubba is on his way out, so the new guy is more important.

Anybody that wants Brad has to promise that Tyler will be coach in waiting. Which becomes an easier sell after this year’s offense output and Tyler getting the credit on finding Keaton. Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. And what the fan base sentiment will be after Thursday’s game. My guess is we win = do whatever you can to keep him // we lose = let em walk

In Chicago the rumor has been Scheyer to the Bulls. I can’t see that Happening but it’s been out there for awhile
I know nothing. I just don't see Scheyer leaving so quickly after being anointed by his mentor, particularly for a franchise that already has a highly successful former college coach failing.

Feel like it'd be different if he was on the hot seat or had already won a ship..

A salary cap and collective bargaining might be appealing to some of the college coaches at the top end compared to the wild NIL west.

Alright here’s what I’ve got tonight … And it’s a LOT … Indy bomb … Lol …

I think there’s a very real chance that UNC, Duke, Kansas, Michigan, Arizona, and Alabama all open this cycle …

LSU will be Wade … So NC State will also be open and should attract good candidates as well …
So the 3 coaches from Michigan, Bama, and Zona take the Blue Blood jobs. Who then back fills those? Anyone else we can get out of the B1G?

USF is a WAYYYYYY better job than Akron …

The American is a lot easier to win than the MAC … And he’s dominated the MAC … He will have great success at USF if he is indeed their guy …
I'd assume a heck of a lot easier to recruit USF than Akron... And also a perk to live there as well.

As some counterpoints-It’s basically his hometown NBA team, perhaps what he thought college basketball would be has become something totally different (which it has), and he wants to eventually be a NBA GM instead of a college basketball coach for the next 20-25 years of his career.

You raise some good points, but I don’t think it’s wildly “out there” that this would be something that interests him. Now working for the Reinsdorfs may counterbalance that.

I could see a college coach being tempted by the prestige of the NBA, plus not having to deal with even the front of being compliant with grades, etc.

I put it on here about a month ago and I can say with confidence that Scheyer is very much interested in the Bulls …

He has seen the path Brad Stevens has taken and likes that …
Why wouldn't it look attractive? WIth the way NIL and the transfer portal are going, is it worth the headache? I feel like Brad saves himself from a bit of it by pulling away from many of the high level, huge pay guys, but it still has to be difficult to deal with. And how many teams with a big payroll end up not performing to expectations? Not to mention you're re-recruiting the same guys every year. Pretty soon all major programs will have to have a GM.
