I do consider you our soft board insider with anything related to Arizona.
Ha. I work here and I have a good friend in the athletic department, but he is in a non-athletic/non-donor role and so probably has limited actual information. For what it's worth, that person tells me the sense he gets is that the Arizona donors would absolutely burn the place to the ground if Lloyd leaves, particularly if it is in any way tied to incompetence by Reed-Francois.

Makes me so thankful that we have Josh and his impeccable leadership.

Statue now!

Not a secret Tommy isn’t pleased with DRF …

I can’t really share all the details but Arizona and mainly DRF are really putting themselves in a position to lose him as of right now …

If they were to lose Lloyd due to incompetence:

If North Carolina is putting all of their eggs in the Lloyd bucket I think they will be left empty handed. I bet Arizona ends up giving him what he wants

RE: some previous comments in various threads, I really don't think we can just poo-poo the idea that Arizona players wouldn't be a bit affected by these swirling Lloyd rumors actually having legs just because a lot of them will be gone next year anyway. These are practically professionals, sure, but sports are emotional and psychological at all levels. I never played super high-level sports, but I played long enough to doubt that these sorts of rumors have ZERO effect on a locker room. On this big of a stage with everything on the line, tiny things can make a difference, and they're often things that get in your head rather than your physical ability.

Hopefully they get by Michigan and then the rumors heat up on Sunday, affecting them enough to perform poorly in the title game against us on Monday.

Of course they aren’t

Given the things I've heard about Reed-Francois and the deep financial hole that Arizona athletics is in, I wouldn't count on them making a successful competing offer. But stranger things have happened.
Worse than IL? The numbers I'm seeing have IL athletics 300M in the hole. Debt payments are ~12% of the total budget. I don't know how the 100M donated by Geis last year will be used.

Shocking, if it happens. There's been at least one rumor that he wants his assistants to be paid, but the university and the athletic department are in an austerity cycle, with DRF specifically being brought on to close the deficit. It seems like they are close to doing that, though, and a natty would sure go a long way to make that happen.

Yes but wouldn’t you assume players on almost every team right now are getting some sort of reach out or feelers on if they will portal; feel like everyone has to have something going on.

Michigan has the same stuff going on the Arizona has

Living in Charleston, I'm pretty excited about Groce coming here. He was a bit over his head at Illinois, but has done very well at Akron. He is personable and a good human being, which immediately puts him ahead of Mack. He has a very good chance to be successful at CofC.

As an aside, you have to wonder what his tenure here would have been like if he had closed the deal with either Demetrius Jackson or Jawun Evans.
We have our PG
