didn't michigan let their coach go in the middle of a tournament who was "ironing out details" to leave for Arizona St.?
Fischer inherited a national championship team that year. that was a great AD move. a "Michigan Man" will coach our team.
over time that "MM" thing didn't wear so good!

Charleston has a lot more NIL to work with and better attendance is what I've heard.
TD Arena is small but consistently sold out until this past year. There is a TON of money here that could go into the program under the right circumstances. CofC is potentially another Gonzaga under the right coach

Shocking, if it happens. There's been at least one rumor that he wants his assistants to be paid, but the university and the athletic department are in an austerity cycle, with DRF specifically being brought on to close the deficit. It seems like they are close to doing that, though, and a natty would sure go a long way to make that happen.
I have to think that, unless the monetary demands are astronomical, they'd be able to raise enough money from boosters to make it happen right? I mean, if the boosters are ready to blow their stack as it is, and the rumors swirling around as they are, that effort has to be well under way right?

I ultimately feel like this ends up like the Todd Golden leaving Florida rumors from last year. With guys like this, in the midst of a great deal of success at their current school, it's almost always more negotiating posture than actual desire to leave. It's in everyone's interest, athletic department and coach alike, that things get worked out. It would be an epic fumble by the athletic department not to get it figured out (though I know there is precedent for that kind of thing too).

Arizona relied heavily on Adidas paying their recruits and got caught by FBI wiregate. One reason why Sean Miller had to start all over.
Both AZ Big 12 and UNC ACC do not get the $65M/year Big 10/ SEC TV money. ACC is ~$45 million and Big 12 is worse at $31 million.
I think UNC has boosters and TV money to outbid AZ if it comes to that. Plus Tucson is 110 in summer. Chapel Hill is closer to Spokane.

I would prefer Dusty May go to UNC. Get him out of the B10. Get Cignetti out too.

Not a secret Tommy isn’t pleased with DRF …

I can’t really share all the details but Arizona and mainly DRF are really putting themselves in a position to lose him as of right now …

I’ve been told I can put this out there publicly now …

Tommy has been very clear … He’s DONE dealing with DRF … Fire her or get someone else that Tommy approves of to oversee the MBB program …

If they aren’t willing to do that … UNC is the likely move …

Sounds like just the right amount of chaos to affect a championship game, but not a semifinal game. 😎

You have to wonder how some people get their jobs or even get people to listen to them. I’m sure Tommy Lloyd has a healthy ego (what high-major college head coach doesn’t??), but he doesn’t seem like someone that would be overly tough to get along with.

I have avoided betting Futures on Arizona the last 4 years under Lloyd. He can recruit like a monster, but his tourney performances before this season were consistently disappointing.

Also, the greatest "Nobody Does It Better" song of all time is Nate Dogg and Warren G. Not even an opinion, just spitting facts. 😁

Inhave a friend of a friend rumor that suggest McCollum is UNC's guy. No idea if that's red and blue colored glasses, though.

Thats what all the X threads were saying on April Fool's too. None of them with little blue checkmarks

I think Ben is a good coach, for sure - he's proven it at several levels.

But if I were a blue blood looking, I'd sure like to see a year or two of high-major, Stirtz-less teams led by him first.

On the other hand, you don't want an Indiana, May-goes-to-Ann Arbor situation either.

I would put more money on it being McCollum than Lloyd. I think Lloyd is leveraging UNC's interest to improve his situation at Arizona, and that's it. He's not going anywhere.

The situation isn’t going to improve until DRF is gone or Tommy doesn’t have to deal with her anymore …

If Arizona was halfway smart, they’d just hire someone who Tommy gets along with to oversee MBB and let them work with DRF (if that’s even possible) …
