The Bulls don't yet have a new head of basketball operations
My guess is that the new Bulls head coach will be given serious sway over basketball operations (i.e., roster construction), so the head coach hire may very well come first.

Though I am not sure who would even want to coach the ship that has all but sunk.

If the coach was going to pick basketball Ops they would have just kept Billy.

1) Never expect logic in the way the Bulls operate
2) Donovan might have also decided to leave the dumpster fire -- https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/48550436/sources-billy-donovan-decides-step-bulls-coach -- the way it sounds Donovan left on his own accord
3) It is conceivable to have a prospective coach layout a vision and then make a personnel decision around that -- I actually expect that a coach that walks into the Bulls situation is going to want plenty of roster control, therefore, the head coach pick could precede the Basketball Ops hire. I don't think the head coach was ever going to hire his boss...the way the article above makes it sound, the new basketball of operations will make the pick. However, if the executive team does have a choice in mind, they can still jump the gun before hiring a head of basketball ops.

Yes, the said post was complete hogwash...unless Jerry is the "Head of Basketball Operations". Sadly, with the way the Bulls operate top-down, nothing would surprise me. We live in a World where Onion articles sometimes could pass as actual news. Sad times.

Donovan just signed a long extension, does he owe the Bulls a buyout, or do they own his rights if he wants to stay in the NBA? Seems like that would be common practice if the Bulls wanted to protect their organization. College would be a different company, so wouldn't think it would apply to that.

I would bet that it's Matt Lloyd.

Jerry loves guys he has relationships with and Lloyd started in Chicago and presided over college scouting the last time they had any success drafting.
