Walters to Barry Odom, probably the only person currently in West Lafayette with the means for such a home:

imo, he will lose at least 2 million trying to sell that
You're right, there is a decent chance this'll be like Jordan's house which sat there for sale for years unless Walters takes an absolute bath on it, so I imagine that's what he'll do, because in addition to the mortgage he's got to pay property tax and insurance while it sits on the market. There is zero market for a house like this in West Lafayette. There are exactly 4 listings on Zillow over $1 million. A 35 acre lot for $1.15 million, two other houses, one at $1.15 mil and the other at $1.7 million, and then this behemoth at $4.9 million. Hilarious.

How much of this is “this guy is so good at calling defenses and knows things no one else has been able to figure out in 150 years of football” vs how much is this so Franklin can say, “hey we hired the best and paid him, he didn’t deliver” to sheild himself if PSU never gets over the hump? Which I guess now is a natty (would big 10 champs be good enough?).

Craziness. The only nice thing this says about Walters is that he thought Purdue was a destination and wanted to lay down roots. Or at least I will give him that and assume that's the case, because why tf else would you build that house if you wanted to jump ship in a few years (the good kind of jump, not the kind he did).

Walter’s making a poor decision ? I’m shocked …

The Walters building project reminds me of a local couple that bought a 20 or 30 acre parcel and proceeded to build a monster house. Something like 15,000 sq ft. Spent close to 10mil on it. Live in it for a while then decided to sell it and took a massive bath. IIRC the end sale price was less than 5mil.

This ladies and gentlemen, is what I refer to as "Stupid Money", which can be defined as follows:

- It's stupid to spend that much money on the goods or service;
- It's stupid to pay that much money for someone to do that job;
- The amount of money it would take to get me to come out of retirement to do any job
