indeed

amd there is very likely A LOT more to that story behind the scenes than we know .

it wasn’t just two weeks of bad luck . we all thought that he was an arsehole for valid reasons

With all the money that is flying around in college sports nowadays, I'm trying to focus on how I could snag some of it... LOL... even at my age...

And how much are you willing to spend for a coach that will be 65 next year. I think Cignetti is a great coach but I can only see him leaving for a job like bama that he can win right away at
I agree Cignetti is a great coach. However, if I were PSU or another blue blood type program, I’m not sure I would back up the truck for him just yet. The last 2 years his James Madison guys still make up the core of his team. Now he gets all the credit for identifying and developing them, and in my opinion they are the best team in the country right now. But is he really a transcendently good coach like Saban or is he a really good coach (think Ferentz or even James Franklin. Realize he could never win the big one and just got canned but still the guy was good for 9-10 wins every year) who happened to build one great team?

EDIT: And it seems to me if he was a transcendently good coach we would have known his name before his mid 60’s

BB could certainly entertain offers elsewhere, as we’ve seen BU do almost every offseason. we do have a lot leaving after this year too

Those guys also came with him and were able to set the tone for the program culture. It’ll be interesting to follow. He has assembled a great staff and I wonder how long he can keep them all together

Dude won right away at Indiana. I bet he could win right away at Penn St
I agree.

His age doesn't bother me. Keeping his coordinators and being able to acquire talent are the two biggest worries.

Very conceivable that he would be fine moving on with a 7 or 8 year contract. What would be enough to make him pull the trigger? Is there a 13/14 million dollar a year contract? Will they also be able to pay his coordinators top dollar?

This is on top of Franklins buyout, Cignetti's buyout with Indiana...we are talking a 100 million dollar + commitment with that alone.

It's big boy money. Intriguing to see where this goes. I am always of the sentiment that a team has a shortlist they are very comfortable with before moving forward with a firing.

while there isnt , there should be a conference by law against taking players with you if you transfer in conference

Maybe this is the time Matt Campbell finally takes another job. People have also mentioned Rhule

I think it will be Leipold or Kotelnicki, though heard their NIL is a problem
That would be awful going from buying the best offensive and defensive coordinators money could buy to...well Wisconsin where BB couldn't afford to keep his homegrown coordinators

Get Kotelnicki for when BL gets a head coaching job
I am having Kotelnicki being Leeipold's successor at Kansas or even getting the Wisconsin job. Heck I can brainwash myself into Penn State going the Dabo route and hiring at HC... though doubtful.
