To coach with Lane?
I mean I knew Lane was working on putting together a monster staff but my goodness …
To coach with Lane?
That's Bret's older brother Billy Bielema. He's looking to come on staff as a nutrition consultant for $600k.Sorry that I don’t follow so closely. Who is this and for what position?
Kiffin to LSU …
Sumrall to Auburn …
Fisch to Florida …
Golesh to Arkansas …
Sean Lewis to UCLA …
Chesney to Penn State …
That’s what I’ve heard as of today …
Let’s be honest here, people deserve second chances. I’m sure everyone on this board has gotten a couple over the course of their lives.“The University has taken action to ensure hazing will not occur again.”
This pretty clearly states hazing did indeed occur when Fitzgerald ran that football program, and based on what those hazing accusations were it was pretty awful.
So, he either was aware of the hazing and did nothing. Or wasn’t aware of it and was therefore incompetent.
Idk…maybe now that we have a good football program we shouldn’t tarnish it unnecessarily.
I literally haven’t heard any experts in STL say this and if they have, they lose their expert card.Experts(?) in StL think drink is heading to LSU...I don't think Baton Rouge would be happy about that nor should they be
Feels like the PSU fanbase might not be thrilled with this.Kiffin to LSU …
Sumrall to Auburn …
Fisch to Florida …
Golesh to Arkansas …
Sean Lewis to UCLA …
Chesney to Penn State …

TBH Mizzou is a lot like us (admittedly with a better recent history). When do they ever seemingly turn the corner. Like in their game a few weeks ago against Bama. I watched that one on TV & just intuitively thought ahead of & during the game, these are just the kind of games that Mizzou doesn't win.Twice in the last 3 weeks a St Louis tv station (KTVI a couple nights ago) have mentioned the Franklin factor. Drink is a great recruiter, entertaining and exciting but he can't win the big one despite good talent.
I think 3 years ago, Mizzou is trailing South Carolina by 3 in overtime. As the Missouri running back is about to cross the goal line for the victory, with virtually no contact he fumbles the ball into the endzone. It rolls out the side, Carolina ball, game over. Mizzou fans like him but wonder if he can really turn the corner with that program
Well, the tarnishing of our program will be up to the media.Let’s be honest here, people deserve second chances. I’m sure everyone on this board has gotten a couple over the course of their lives.
Hazing, while I do not promote it, was a cultural norm-ish in society/sports for a long time, and probably still is in fraternities/sororities.
I’m pretty sure Brett & Josh can bring a guy in and let him coach our players without him secretly hazing them and tarnishing our program that has just gotten decent.
Does Billy have a beer named after him, or are you not old enough to know this one? That's Bret's older brother Billy Bielema. He's looking to come on staff as a nutrition consultant for $600k.
Jk that's Sam Pittman, former Arkansas coach and a hell of an O-line coach.
OLD SCHOOL OPINION:That statement says there was no evidence he condoned or directed the hazing. Fine.
How does this address the concern that he "had absolutely no clue as to what was happening under his watch within his program." If anything, it confirms it.
Again… he’s not been “cleared” of anything. A lawsuit was settled where no one admits guilt. You have to be extraordinarily naive — willfully so — to believe the head coach didn’t know what was happening in his own locker room.Fitz always struck me as a bit of a goof, but no one can say he isn't at least a good if not real good coach. If he's been cleared of wrongdoing, there is no reason for Illinois to be on their high horse about it. Somebody will pick him up & our luck is such that if someone else in the Big gets him he'd beat our !!! for a decade after that.
Frankly, with NIL, this is more of a bottom line business than ever before. And it's always had a bit of a dirty underbelly. No problem bringing guys in that can advance the program even if they have a few skeletons in the closet. Of course there is a line to draw, but if he was guilty of anything it may have been being too naive or not plugged into all the aspects of the program like he should have been. TBH these coaches have been conditioned to operate in a "don't ask, don't tell" mentality whether it came to paying players, enticing recruits, etc. Not too surprising that mentality would extend to other areas of a program that didn't directly involve on field performance. Is it pretty & neat, no, but it's the reality of the game.
Sumrall wants Ole Miss…He is waiting for Kiffin to decide!
I'm curious, have you read the particular hazing allegations in this case?OLD SCHOOL OPINION:
Having personally tolerated a 7-day fraternity initiation (hell week), I don't really weigh "hazing" quite the same way I do a DC allowing 30+ ppg.
I trust Josh & Bret.
So, looking across the entire nation, Billy is objectively the most qualified “nutrition consultant” $600,000 will buy? That's Bret's older brother Billy Bielema. He's looking to come on staff as a nutrition consultant for $600k.![]()
I've read this thrice....can't tell if you are being sarcastic and "in" on the joke or not...So, looking across the entire nation, Billy is objectively the most qualified “nutrition consultant” $600,000 will buy?![]()
Nepotism is a huge red flag. Didn’t Lovie teach us that? It undermines staff morale by creating suspicion that some hires can get by with weak performance due to family relationships . . . or even personal relationships, making it tougher to fire an underperforming DC who’s a very nice guy and long-time personal friend. Hire, promote and fire based on merit alone.
Sorry to be so negative here lately, but leadership requires a balance of relationship-building and occasional cold-hearted discipline to decisively deal with underperformance. Nepotism impairs the latter, setting you up for failure.
Oh, it’s a joke! Hence the Billy Beer thing. Cool. Disregard!I've read this thrice....can't tell if you are being sarcastic and "in" on the joke or not...
I just wanted to use the word 'thrice'.Oh, it’s a joke! Hence the Billy Beer thing. Cool. Disregard!
I have to admit I can’t make out who this is. Anyone willing to help a brother out?
