Are you under the impression that Brett and Josh are holding back some money?

Iowa State HC job didn’t even interest him that much …
There was an ESPN article saying Nate may get some interviews for HC jobs this cycle (but did not seem to indicate he would be a top candidate). Does that line up with what you’re hearing? I’d think that his logical next step would be a playcalling OC. Given some of the top coordinator candidates this year are on the defensive side of the ball, I could see him as a viable option in that situation.

According to his Illini Bio, Thad Ward has held 11 positions at 9 institutions since 2002 (counting his first grad assistant gig).

This seems to be a typical situation for many coaches.

Being an assistant football coach is a nomadic life.

Thad's kinda taken it to a new level: ultimate nomad

Do you think John Holecek would be interested, local guy and could be ready to take the next step?

Sorry I couldn’t help myself. No disrespect to Holecek, but I don’t miss the days when people on here were ready to go to his door every time a position opened up.

I can hear all the head scratching over this comment. :)

Holecek is not coming. I would talk to Jordan Lynch and try to get him on board

Can we please throw a bag at Bob Bostad, OL coach at IU? He was Bret’s OL coach at Wisconsin and has created a monster that is destroying Alabama up front.

Just to add a little more to this comment and mine from earlier today …

I’d say as many as 5 more changes … But at minimum a couple more …
5??!! Holy cow! I expected some movement but not on that scale. Hold onto your hats, it's gonna be a bumpy ride,

I wouldn't use bumpy as the operative word but it is quite a bit of turnover.

We have way more money, notoriety, pull, success, etc... than we did when we hired the majority of coaches who are on the chopping block.

If we get Leonhard, Aigamau, Pittman... Now you've got a legitimate B1G staff.

Cignetti is a great coach, but he's got a phenomenal staff. You can't get THAT level of attention to detail across a whole team without some DAWGs at each position. We have 3 right now in Lunney, Stepp, Art. That's not cutting it IMO

What are the odds that some of Thad’s recruits follow him to K State?
Indy made it seem like it wouldn't affect any 26 recruits.

That's a bit odd and kind of a red flag isn't it? Guys who really have no time and sweat equity in your program are usually intrinsically tied to the positional coach who recruits them. ---Maybe not a Champion Smith type who Bret stepped in took the reins on but most other cases ..

Can '26 signees even hit the portal tomorrow?

They're tied to their NIL deals now. It's not going to be easy to get the same deal at this point in the process.

You can always find money for elite talent. But most players are going to be stuck unless they're willing to take less.
