He’s been an elite coach for years. He’s not the first guy who struggled making the jump from coaching eager to learn teens to close minded millionaires.

I don’t know that calling them thugs makes that jump any easier. It’s like a lot of things in life, you don’t maximize that first shot, it’s not gonna work out for you.

Nope, with Universities and college athletics in a serious financial crisis, WF will go the mid major route. Look for the guy from UNCG to be at the top of the list.

I didn’t even consider that. Tough time to pay a guy to not coach for you anymore.

Per the Ogboards (#Vibes), WF was rumored to terminate with cause. Not sure if that’s been dispelled.

Wake Forest, ETSU coach Steve Forbes agree to deal

Forbes has been one of the most successful mid-major coaches in the country the past several years. He has won 130 games in five seasons at East Tennessee State and two Southern Conference regular-season titles. The Bucs went to the NCAA tournament in 2017 and would have gone last season after winning 30 games and the SoCon tournament.

Assistant to the evil one before East Tennessee State.

Groce interviewed for the ETSU job. No longer under consideration.

Going to come down to Joel Justus, Chris Jans, and Jason Shay.

interesting. Groce still has a job at Akron? Is ETSU a step up?

Doubtful that Groce ever interviewed for the ETSU job. In addition to Groce's $1,700,000 buyout from Illinois and his 3rd year salary of $600,000 +incentives at Akron are far greater than the rumored first year pay at ETSU of $400,000.

DePaul brings back Leitao after four straight last place finishes in the Big East. It's like Shaka coming back, coaches that in normal years schools might be moving on from. Just a quick look at DePaul message boards and some unhappy fans. Anyone else who might have kept their job this year because of the uncertainty in the world right now?
He has a nice start to their 2021 recruiting class so far.

You think he'll leave Michigan when both his kids are about to be college age and probably want to play at Michigan? That might create some bad blood with his alma mater and make it difficult for his kids to enjoy playing there.

Haven't seen that. Doesn't mean it isn't true. Where have you seen/heard that?

NBA teams are interested nothing is certain though.
Certainly doesn't encourage much faith that he will be there long term if NBA teams are already sniffing around. Be interesting how that plays how with his recruiting.

He interviewed with the Lakers and Cavs before taking the Michigan job. His name will come up almost every NBA off season as long as he is decent at Michigan. That being said he just put out a statement saying he is staying at scUM FWIW.
