Coaching Carousel

Doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy about Curbelo. OA big (only?) reason for him being here.
I'm pretty sure I saw Curbelo jump into Underwood's arms last night. That seems pretty warm and fuzzy.
Everyone expects that Antigua wants a second chance to be a head coach and was going to get one. If he has a good relationship with anyone, they would understand. The opportunity to freely transfer makes me nervous though and it should every single coach in the country. It could be madness. Curbelo's dream school was Duke. That make you nervous? I'll admit it does me a little.

No one is leaving a top 5 team to join a mid major. Not going to happen.

If we lose O (maybe not this year, but inevitable), do we kick tires on Deon?

His kids are old enough now maybe he could devote more time to coaching. And if he’s based in Naperville, could be home quite a bit if he’s recruiting the city/suburbs.

I think people need some perspective here. Athletes aren't trying to transfer out of a good situation. I'm sure every kid on our roster at some point had Duke as their dream school. Should I be scared they're all transferring to Duke?

There's having a dream when you were a kid and there's establishing meaningful relationships. Two very different things. It can't be emphasized enough how important it is for people to feel safe and somewhere familiar.

I'd give Antigua a 7 figure salary in attempt to keep him here.

He's already had a rough go as a head coach, he may not be beating down the door for a second try.
Whoa! You have that kind of money? Cool. Give it to him. How many beach houses do you have?

I have a feeling that Curbelo’s dream school is currently Illinois.

What's the situation there? Facilities any good? After his first stop didn't go well, I"m not sure what his options are. but I'd think he could do better.
Steve Alford liked it there for a little while until UCLA came sniffing.

Albuquerque is supposed to be a decent town and I always hear decent things about the school. But EVERYTHING is at least 400 miles away. you need to fly (likely in a prop plane ) to see anyone . And Im not talking 2 hours , thats 4-5 hours to Houston.
I dont know if they can fly you in a small jet everywhere. maybe for anything 1000 miles away . I have to imagine you are away from home ALOT.

Totally agree, Indy. I would love to have Roger come back home. He’s a class person, smart coach, and was a talented player who knows exactly what it takes to be part of a winning team and program.
