You lose OA, and the Caribbean connection is gone. You lose Chin, and Chicago becomes very difficult.

I’d argue losing AO/Chin/Kofi/Ayo/Miller all in one offseason is on par with Self leaving, except we got very little on the roster. If Curbelo leaves, this will be the worst Illini team of post 1970. Full rebuild - players, coaches etc.

This is always funny to me. This is assuming you don't hire anyone new. If you hire someone from Chicago, that's covered. Then you hire someone with connections elsewhere. Not that complicated.

Yes, they could be massive losses, but it's easy to look at it as a blank slate if a quality replacement hasn't been brought in.

Correction, there’s some confusion. I believe there’s 1 million on the table right now not 1.2 million but no counter from Kentucky yet. Still an aggressive offer.

There is reporting that Illinois has counteroffered more than $1m a year for four years. Haven't seen an exact statement of how much over $1m per.

The 4 years is what makes it incredible. Most AC contracts are 2-3

Really proud of Josh Whitman and to be an Illinois fan today. We could have just given up because of Kentucky, but we didn't. Either way, we will get top notch assistants. We are on the road back to the top and this shows the commitment from Josh and the program. Should know soon, but think we have a chance!
