It’s like we’re on a roller coaster in a Scooby Doo movie where the ghost gets to decide when you are done with the ride. Where’s Fred? We need him to lay a trap...

Interested to know how a Kentucky insider would know the communications between BU and Chin before an Illini insider.
Exactly as was AM was going to Kentucky. So it appears much is happenig on the side lines. Don't be surprised if Rev Powell jumps in the conversation soon.
Much to happen, big $$$$ being tossed around, P5 asst coaches are watching. Don't change the Channel... Stay tuned.

So, does anyone know if there are any ncaa rules against tampering with another school’s players who aren’t in the portal? Seems like Iowa was pretty adamant Frederick was tampered with but no idea about legality.

Asking for a friend.

JJE: “...not a great feeling to get your cupboard raided by the same school.”

Why does someone ‘raid’ a cupboard? Because there is something tasty there. You don’t raid something that is not worth your while.

Let’s hope that recruits take a message from this that... ‘There must be something really good going on over there. Look at everybody trying to get a piece of what they have.’ And again, the future success of Ayo in The Association will bring big dividends to the Orange and Blue as a public advertisement of a place where one can shine. Not everyone can go to Kentucky, and one doesn't have to.

Just keep your program a place where you as a player are treated with respect... where you can develop your talent and be successful as a player and as a young man and have fun while doing it... and any defections from your program will be promptly replaced by someone else who “Wants to be part of us!” and see why others envy what your program has.

Right on... I don't see P5 bball universities raiding Northwestern's coaching staff or players.

Northwestern doesn't have aspirations of a final four run and BIG championship....why not snag Michigan's asst. Coaches, they are recruiting better than Illinois.

Hard to feel good after a raid if you don't know if anything is left or if a restock is on the way. I guess we're about to find out. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

The Antigua situation stinks. But it is classic Illinois for sure. Shady guy thrives at Kentucky, leaves for South Florida where he is fired for shady activity. Illinois gives him a new opportunity where he succeeds, only to leave for Kentucky where shady activity resumes. 😏

Couldn't resist! 🤭

I can’t blame OA really - I’m sure he’s got a deep love for Kentucky. Not thrilled with him that he recruited Chin to go with him, but that is what he does- recruit. I’ve unfortunately lost a little respect for Chin. Chicago guy, was literally hardly a college coach when brought on to Illini program. For both guys to go to the same program at the same time after such a great season with a heart breaking ending is just really kinda low. I know it’s a business and I’m a salty fan. But it’s just my feelings about it.

With that being said, as long as we don’t lose recruits over this, I still think we will make great hires and be in great shape for the future.

Underwood, OA, and Chin are all three very much apart of bringing Illinois back. Without any one of those three, I hate to think what would have been the "new rockbottom." We all remember those days, right?

I have absolutely zero hard feelings with this. From a professional standpoint I do think both OA and Chin are taking a risk here.

From a glass is half full perspective, it's UK, a true blue blood. Should be that much easier to recruit, coach, and win.

From a glass is half empty perspective, another sub .500 season with Cal and his seat will be the hottest of hot seats in the country. He may not get another year. Might be the only place left in college basketball with those type of expectations, but they are real. New coach typically means new staff.

With that said, I'll be shocked with anything less than 1-5 seed in next year's tourney from UK. Good luck and thank you OA and CC!

Cal's buyout is something like $40 million, and I'm not exaggerating, so no matter how badly he might fail I think UK is stuck with him for another few years (unless they set him up for a "for cause" termination, which would be wildly entertaining to watch from the outside).
