I know people are talking about Nick Irvin being the next Assistant to the Head Coach. I personally would love to see an alum slotted in that position. What's Aaron Jordan doing these days? It also might be a good jumping-off position for James Augustine. Build and sustain the Illini culture.
As nyc said, if getting Irvin onboard gives us the advantage in getting the '23 MIF players down here, do it and don't look back.

Sooo….summary of recent info from various sources hints that PROBABLY our new staff would look like this:

Huss
Frazier
Alexander

Irvin might join staff to replace Alexander

confirmation announcements soon.

I fail to see how promoting someone already here gets us access to his connections.
Failing to promote someone deserving can lead to losing access to said person's connections. Additionally, changing that person's title and responsibilities can lead to more effectively leveraging those relationships. Especially if recruiting was not necessarily a primary focus of that person's efforts.

So Cali
illini0440, just curious, you said previously "No Irvin will be hired as an assistant coach as long as BU is the head coach".

What would make the Assistant to the Head Coach position any different? It sounds like that would be an even closer working relationship.

Thought they had a little falling out with the Adam Miller situation and some things were said privately in a meeting but sounds like fences might have been mended especially if Nick can bring in some MIF kids and not take up an actual assistant spot.

So are you saying that both parties could be open to that type of working relationship??

Hiring an Irvin in any capacity won't help Illinois with Meanstreets. Underwood needs to hire someone that won't anger other AAU teams.
