Need some coaches and soon. De-commits are starting. Is Brian Randle in the discussion regarding our coaching staff? Is he interested in college coaching?
I'm from Omaha and hearing that the family wants to stay. Should be finalized he stays at Creighton in the next day or so.
Lots of guys are interested in coaching. Lots of former Illini too. And as much as we may like them or have good memories of their time here, it does not make them the most qualified or able to come in and contribute.

Brian Randle is coaching in the NBA so I assume he's qualified. Also, we keep getting turned down by those who are purportedly 'more qualified.'

We will know when the ink is dry. Our own insiders were pretty high on retaining one or both of OA and CC at one time and they eventually left after an active bidding war.

is it possible the leaks about our effort/numbers in a bidding war against UK were inflated? I doubt OA turned down the $1M+ x4y that was reported to accept 850k annually at UK. that money not actually being there could certainly explain both losing OA/CC and having some **apparent** issues with finding replacements.

My take was more that we were actively trying to compete in the UK arena, not that we would necessarily win. Either way doesn't matter, but this is getting frustrating.

Brad Underwood is still the coach and he has won everywhere he has been, including here. I’d love to see the staff come together sooner rather than late too but these are big time negotiations and decisions.

Interesting, especially given that we were rumored to have offered more $ per year and more years of commitment.
Less than I thought they would be making.
So either the info about our offer that leaked was false, and we didn't actually make as strong a move to retain OA as we should have, or they took less to go to UK than they would have made staying here. Either way, not a great look. Our inability to land any of our top names so far gives me suspicions we're not actually willing to pay as much as was reported, which is disappointing if that's the case. Pure speculation on my part though.

And just for the sake of baseless speculation and increased pearl-clutching, the rumored amounts of our offer(s) might be biting us in the nuts if everyone else now feels slighted by lower offers in comparison.
