Tried digging a little and it looks like NBA asst. make anywhere from 100K to 1 mil. Randle has been NBA asst. for two yrs so it’s probably closer to the 100K mark. If so, or if BU is looking at another NBA coach with limited yrs in the league, it may be affordable, especially with some of the salary numbers supposedly thrown around for our AC’s. And I have no gif game...

Good read. But, come to think about, most press releases about recent hires are usually good. Guess since it mentioned the beloved, it read extra good.

When are you all going to realize that hiring AC3 will not happen this year. You can dream up all these prospective Assistant Coaches all you want, you are wasting your time.

Why in the world do you think this? I know you mentioned before so we could save money. This doesn't hold water for so many reasons.

1) BU would have quit by now if this was a real thing. This creates more stress on the rest of the staff and hamstrings BU going into next year. Moving forward we'll have difficult hiring quality coaches EVER AGAIN because we're showing that we don't value our coaches and we're not serious about having a top coaching staff. If this is BU's choice, he needs to be fired immediately.
2) So you're telling me that JW suddenly went from offering raises to Chin and OA to all of a sudden he's going to save approximately $200k a year by not hiring another assistant? If JW is that cheap, he needs to be fired immediately. We were a #1 seed last year and we're going to have a full house in SFC next year. The money is there.
3) 10 of your 18 posts are insisting that we're not hiring a third AC. You're a troll.

I am in the camp that says that the new hire has been identified, and something is holding up the contract being signed.

Hires that are delayed and gone quiet might have to do with stipulations in the contract that have to be worked out, money to be decided upon, or waiting for another contract to end.

I wonder whether they're waiting for approval of the new coach's salary.
The idea that it's an NBA guy who has to finish his season makes sense.
Could it also be a guy who isn't working now and has requested to formally start working at a later date? Underwood has his guy but the guy wants to start on July 1, for example? What if (throwing out a name for the hypothetical) Donyell Marshall, who stepped down as head coach at Central Connecticut State after the 20-21 season, told Illinois he wants to start after his kid's school year ends?
I wonder whether it's an Adidas-sponsored individual whose contract needs to first run out so as to avoid a massive penalty /s haha.
I doubt the university is delaying until a fiscal year ends to make the books work, but I like it as a conspiracy theory in a made-for-Illini fans Netflix special. Hey, Scott Richey, you ready to direct an investigative docu-series breaking this coaching search down after it's all over?

...are late nite thoughts for the forum to ponder #loyaltyafterdark

When his season is over, we will know shortly thereafter who it is.

B.Randle’s beard is legit. That’s all I have to add.

I actually think he’s a strong (and likely) candidate for the last AC position.

We get it; you're tired of people trolling with gifs so you're trolling with this. But can you at least take a slightly less depressing troll position?
