Tim Anderson? I thought they were talking about the player on the Sox?! Brian Randle? I thought he lived on a farm in Effingham. I never knew he was even working for the Suns. Only Chicago kids have heard of Irvin. Not gonna help in Florida/Texas or Alabama. At least Maryland (Manning) Indiana (Woodson) Michigan (Howard) have hired people kids have heard of. We have had "Chicago coaches" for years but we still lose Chicago Kids. I'm hoping for a WOW hire!

Ah yes, Alabama has always been a real recruiting hotbed for our program

Well of course it hasn't! Because all we've been hiring is "Chicago coaches." If we were hiring Alabama coaches, we'd get all the Alabama kids, just like our long line of "Chicago coaches" gets us all the Chicago kids.

Ubermensch

BOOM! Feed my ego.
You've nailed it. If it's Randle, and if it hasn't been announced, it's because all involved don't want to announce it.

But it's Anderson, and announcing him FUBARs some recruiting stuff.
That's why it's called a "hypothetical."

Kids have no idea who Manning or Woodson are. Stick to copying and pasting recruiting news it’s what you’re good at

Not sure why we are discussing Peyton Manning and Charles Woodson in the carousel thread. Either would be mind blowing crossover candidates though.

I know this announcement is gonna get hate regardless, but remember this is for a supporting role. Miles Smith was given an Assistant position. Not the same situation.

Nepotism undeniably played a part, but the whole "someone more qualified" argument disregards that this is an entry role. It's very common for people within an organization to get these type of opportunities - no matter what we perceive as "qualified". I've been given similar chances in organizations I've been a part of even though I'm sure they would've found a more "qualified" candidate had they done an official search

Not sure if this was directed at my comment, but mine was sarcasm.

No, wasn't directed at anyone tbh. Just a comment after I've seen the inevitable dissatisfaction expressed by some people on social media

Sure hope so, this reminds me of Lovie Smith and his son he put on the staff!
Did Lovie's son attend the University of Illinois? Did Lovie's son play college ball at Illinois? Was Lovie's son respected as a teammate by other players at Illinois? Was Tyler hired for an assistant coaching job? I think you're stretching quite a bit to say that these two situations would remind you of one another.
