So disappointed, Pitt/Ole Miss would have been the College Football Twitter Super Bowl.

I know I should be cheering for all the Big Ten teams in the bowl games. But I'm seriously considering going to the bowl game in Phoenix and cheering against PJ Fleck and the Gophers. I just can't cheer for that guy.

How does 4 - 5 / 7 - 5 Penn St. get the New Years Day Outback Bowl game and 7 - 2 / 10 - 2 Michigan St. gets Dec. 30th Peach Bowl?

Because the Peach Bowl is a "New Years Six" game The Outback is not a New Years Six game. PSU should not have gotten the Outback Bowl though.

I hate Georgia so much now. A playoff without Alabama would have been wonderful.

I also hate Auburn for choking away their lead with 2 minutes left and allowing Bama to win in the Iron bowl.
It’s maddening. The CFP stinks of SEC favoritism. The Disney/ESPN entertainment profit machine is behind it, trying to build the SEC brand so they can pay TX and OU when they join the league. They’ve got to make sure current SEC schools look good since the TX and OU brands have taken a hit this year.

I am not a fan of either school but it would be great if Michigan and Cincinnati win their games.

You can conspiracize all you want, but there's no doubt Bama is the favorite to win the CFP, let alone one of the top 4 and would be a favorite on a neutral site against any other team after that Georgia performance (albeit only a very slight favorite to Georgia).

That's the poisonous logic of college football playoffs. Bama is the best team, meaning their dramatic, thrilling loss to Texas A&M meant nothing and everyone knew it at the time.

That added some juice to the Iron Bowl, admittedly, but again, in college football the Iron Bowl doesn't need any more juice than it already has!

Yes, the fix is in....this whole thing is a charade, run by ESPN, for the benefit of the SEC. Everyone's in on it. All the other 10 conferences, and Swarbrick at ND. The committee actually never meets, they just ask Herbstreit who he wants in. Yesterday, Kirby and Nick's head sets were connected, allowing them to orchestrate the game for an Alabama win, therefore insuring two SEC teams get in. It was only a matter of margin of victory, to keep it from looking obvious. Fox and Joel Klatt are propped up as the alternate network and voice, but they're in on it too. Delaney agreed to this as his swan song, and told Warren to keep his mouth shut. Delaney will negotiate the next SEC deal, when they expand to 24 teams. Book it.

Was reflecting back on this season, and how views of teams changed so much as more games were played. Just off the top of my head, here are games that were hugely influential in shaping views of teams and polls, which results ultimately proved meaningless as the rest of the season played out.

In no particular order....Iowa smokes ranked Indiana, early in September. Iowa then beats top 10 Iowa State, on the road.

Penn State, behind a prime time white out, beats big bad SEC Auburn

Iowa hosts PSU, and although the game itself is ugly, Iowa comes out on top, marking three big wins and rocketing them to #2

Oklahoma, behind a freshman QB, comes to life in the second half and has a huge comeback win over Texas

Georgia, and it's incredible D, holds off Clemson, 10-3, in what felt like a playoff game, Labor Day weekend.

Oh, forgot one....Penn State goes on the road into Madison, and takes down Wisconsin.

Sparty goes down to Miami, and takes out top 25 Miami

Oregon has an impressive win in The Shoe, but then drops a game to Stanford. How to reconcile the head to head, with that odd ball loss?

Notre Dame kicks off its season at FSU, and behind Milton McKenzie and his feel good story, FSU take the Irish to OT. Joe Tesitore hints "FSU is back, baby"

LSU and Coach O travel to UCLA and their "sissy blue" color, only to be beat down by Chip Kelly and UCLA.

Feel free to add more if you want. But these outcomes were super influential in shaping views of teams and rankings, about mid year. Ultimately though, these teams proved to be duds, and these games just a footnote.

This CFP process is not perfect, and it's not even remotely designed to have all the answers when rankings are first released. The landscape in early November is so different from what the final product looks like. Argue all you want about what the seedings should be, but in the end the committee got the final 4 right. Again.

Will be fund to watch, enjoy.

Alabama belongs in the playoff. They somehow embarrassed a Georgia defense that hadn’t given up more than 17 points all year. But I think the committee deliberately made sure they don’t play Georgia again in the semi so that the SEC is in more CFP games. Georgia should be ranked 4 and arguably lower after getting routed by Alabama.

Off the top of my head arkansas beating then ranked #15 Texas built up a lot of hype eventually leading to Arkansas being ranked #8 going into the Georgia game.

Kentucky beating then ranked #10 Florida eventually led to them being ranked #11 heading into the Georgia game. Both of these games made Georgia look like they were destroying great teams when in reality they were borderline top 25 teams.

Bit annoying to see Georgia make the CFP, not surprised though. They already lost to Alabama in a neutral playoff setting, give someone else a shot.

It's very interesting to see how in recent years the conference championships have become viewed as de-facto "round 1" playoff games. Expansion of the playoffs is desired by most fans, yet in the absence of that actually happening, championship Saturday has assumed that role. I don't recall that being the case, back in the early years of '14-15. It seemed it was more "play all those games, then we'll pick the final 4".

If Alabama can lose in October and get in, if Michigan can lose in November and get in, why can't Georgia lose in December and get in? Georgia's loss is the best of any of them, too.

Who else deserved a shot over that one loss Georgia team? Heck, they're already a touchdown favorite over Michigan.

ND since I haven't seen them get smoked by bama yet.
ND got smoked by Cincinnati this year and they didn't have to play a conference championship game. They're body of work(I despise the term) makes them more worthy of a second crack at a team that beat them(Cincy) and a second chance at winning a national championship?

The NCAA did this to themselves when they got rid of the bowl system to determine it's champion and put the playoff in place. They put a panel in place to determine who the four best teams in the country are the play for the championship. Your issue is the entertainment value and really not wanting to see a part 2, which I understand. I'm not thrilled to see a sequel either.

All that said, the two best teams, whether it be on paper or by looking at each team separately, is Georgia and Alabama. We could get into the question on whether Cincy even belongs there, but that's a whole different can of worms.

This is only going to get worse with the additions of Texas and Oklahoma into the SEC in 2025. There's a super conference in play now and the potential of three teams from the SEC being in the playoffs is very real. If Oklahoma, Alabama and Georgia were all 11-1 and we had a situation like this year where all major conference teams had a ding on their records.... now what?

So, from an entertainment value standpoint, I agree with you, but given the task they(the committee) had....they got it right IMO.
