The name hinted at here by our fine insider folks was Sean Miller. I for one would have no problem seeing through a coach coming back from a scandal for paying players.
But so are we just glossing over the fact that BU interviewed with Texas but isn’t in their top 3 choices apparently?

Did I miss something? I never heard any insider say he actually interviewed. If he did and isn't in their top 3, though, that's ... interesting.

You don't want a guy that took Xavier to an Elite 8, 3 Elite 8s at Arizona, 5 Pac 12 titles in 12 years. And after his hiatus, immediately took Xavier from a meh back to the Sweet 16? He could make his 5th Elite 8 this week.
He's definitely my first choice if we're looking for a coach.

He was basically run out of Tucson (the fanbase was itching to fire him for several seasons and the scandal was just the final straw). Regular season performance wasn't any better than what we are already getting but his teams did perform better in the tournament than our recent ones have (3x Elite Eight in 12 years). He squandered a lot of talent, though. They had a lot of guys drafted but ran a really old-fashioned, slow offense.
It wouldn't be the worst hire but I am just not convinced he's much of an upgrade on Underwood (if at all considering that Underwood has had to rebuild an horrendously broken program culture).
Sean Miller is arguably a better coach than BU and now that NIL is a thing we don’t have to worry about sanctions for him playing the big boy games….

He was ran out of town because he got caught cheating and they didn't want the school in trouble. Most programs cheated, he just was one that got caught because of the FBI investigations. Now with NIL, that's not really a concern.
FYI, he's talked about learning from past teams' offensive struggles and has made adjustments. This year's Xavier team sure seems pretty potent offensively. Just saying.

I mean, that just isn't true. The fanbase and donors turned on him before the scandal. He had missed the tournament 3 years in a row (though one was the COVID year so they probably would have made it that year but I think were a bubble team). The school ran an investigation that basically cleared him of direct involvement. But they got rid of him anyway. Eventually.

I just want to have our state to be relevant on the national map again. Don't get me wrong, for recruiting purposes, I love that it's a one horse race, but even as such....the vast majority of our roster is from somewhere other than Illinois. I was in Des Moines for the first and second rounds. The state of IOWA had threw teams in the tournament (Drake, Iowa State and Iowa) and the locals were all about it. It'd be nice if we had the dynamic with Illinois, Northwestern and DePaul because when we got bounced, I was all about Northwestern winning. When we play them, I want to beat them by 40, but no reason not to have a little state pride. As a lifelong Illinoisan, that's just my take
Regardless, I would take that guy. I love how Xavier plays.
I get what you’re saying but he’s completely changed the offense he runs. He sat in on a lot of different practices when he was out of the game and changed the way he does stuff offensively

And that's fair. And admittedly, I am not a 100% objective observer her because I live in Tucson and got to experience his slow, plodding teams laden with hyper-athletic players up close.
IF Underwood were to leave and IF we were to hire Miller, I wouldn't be upset, but I would remain skeptical until he proved me wrong.

I mean, I'm spitballing here, but shouldn't we assume he subscribes to one of these Illini forums and is tweeting inside information? No one thinks this guy is an insider.
I'm more curious if our insiders can confirm or deny these rumors. If they can't say, I totally get it
