lol, that's some movie logic, where everything hinges on winning one game.
I'm curious about what Underwood is primarily motivated by. Is it just money? If he has friction with boosters, that will happen at any big time program where your team doesn't meet expectations. Then again, some people are grass is always greener.
As others have said, if you're constantly looking elsewhere, it shows you as a leader aren't all in. That will degrade your credibility with the current team quickly.

If there is friction with boosters here, he would get eaten alive in Austin.
While that is true, it is also true that he could probably get 4/5 5* every year just because of NIL.
To manage that kind of talent would be an issue for BU, but then he may be able to hire great assists and pay them a ton too.

I've been someone who people posted about on message boards for something and I'm not gonna lie, it's sort of addicting and interesting. I would screen shot the particularly brutal and awful things and show my friends to laugh at them. Concur with those who felt like something was off with this squad, coinciding with the Mizery blowout and subsequent mediocrity that soon followed, ups & downs/strikes & gutters, non-cohesive, anti-team ball... Then again, no one ever accused me of being early to anything except an open bar, pancake breakfast or a gentleman's club 2-for-1 lap dance night.
Whatever drama may ensue from this point forward, at the very least it's an entertaining distraction from the current iteration of the daily existential crises that should have more attention paid than a silly game. I like Brad. I don't blame him for getting whatever he is worth. I also hold no ill will towards Josh for feeling somewhat spurned and looking for the next move. This is the reality of intercollegiate sports now. Play the game. Stay ahead of the curve.
I'll gladly consume this drama versus the inconsequential nothingness this program experienced for over a decade prior to BU flipping our tired script. Sit back, sip or smoke something and soak up the relevance. And FFS, discuss freely and completely disregard the idea that anything said on this or any message board has any impact on real life shiz.
That being said... Are you not entertained?

One thing that's nice to see in this thread..... it seems most people aren't naive about this being a business decision. I'm not seeing much "I thought we were Brad's forever team".
He's our coach. He can look elsewhere. So can Illinois. The facilities, NIL, recruiting base, fan support, etc... is bigger than one coach.
The transfer portal and NIL changes seems to have prepared fans to not get too attached to individuals, and may have taken away the naive romanticism that may have existed before. I suppose that mindset has bled over to coaches too.

well let's be honest. If Underwood had a Sweet 16 and Elite 8 under his belt the prior 2 seasons, there would probably be a lot more anger, fear, frustration.
As it is, we've had a 1 seed get whipped by an instate mid-major in the 2nd round, a 4 seed squeak out a win and then get stomped, 6 seasons and no 2nd weekends. So there are certainly some people that say if Underwood takes a new job, there's potential for an upgrade. I know I'm in that boat.
