Arizona is one of the better basketball jobs in college. That was probably a dream job for him.
Arizona was only a slightly better job than ours at the time, and that's largely because they have one championship to our zero and Weber/Groce ran us into the ground. Now you could reasonably argue we are the better job because we have a healthy program again and we are in one of the two superconferences.

What about the Arizona job makes it inherently better than Illinois? It's not a blue blood. It's in the same tier as Illinois. One national championship 25 years ago doesn't make it a better job than this one.
The climate and ladies makes recruiting a little easier maybe….just what I hear anyway.

I'm ready for more as well, just don't think Miller here for a few years and starting over next year is the path. Brad can get it done here.
That’s fair man. I respect all opinions, I could be totally wrong. Just saying how I feel and from my bit of knowledge

If they were to let him go after a Final Four appearance, 1)the backlash would be out of this world amongst some and 2)any new coach will be under the microscope from day one.....no thanks.
Anyone know how good of a recruiter he is? His record at 2 other schools is not all that great, but he certainly has this team playing well.

You could just as easily make an argument that being in the BIG 10, which means more $$$, negates those advantages. In the last 5 years, both programs have had similar national relevance, and I'm not convinced recruits care about anything further back than that if you're not a blue blood.

All this to say that if Arizona is a better job than Illinois it's not clear cut and it's by a rather small margin. If Miller would actually take the job there's really no good reason to think he'd be immediately looking to move on other than general pessimism and/or UI inferiority complex.

Well said as well. The beauty of it is we have no control of how it will play out and we won't know until it does. We both agree we want a NC before we die and I don't care who is at the helm (minus Nate Oats, Kelvin, Pearl, Pito, Calipari, etc.). Illinois basketball is becoming my Chicago Cubs pre-2016

Anyone having an inferiority complex needs to go through this thread and sit in time out. We literally have fans ready to let go of a coach that has the best Big Ten conference record over the last four years, the most road wins, the most wins vs AP top 10 teams, one conference regular season championship (should be two, but Kevin Warren is weak) and a conference tournament championship.....all while inheriting a last place, cupboard empty, subpar program when he arrived.

If he's bent on leaving as is being suggested....not much you can do about that. The idea that he should be shoved out the door is plain old insanity.

Edit: Add consistent top 15/top 20 recruiting classes year over year.

Is it fairly standard for a coach to turn to coaches/players on the bench and go at them immediately after a bad play on court? Just something I’ve noticed Brad do, that I’m not sure I’ve ever seen another coach do, at least not consistently. Comes across on tv like hes saying “this is all your fault, I f$@&ing told you!” I could be way off, I’m never there in person.
Tell me you've never played basketball without telling me you've never played basketball.

Tough situation for Texas honestly.

Terry has failed at building a program everywhere he’s been a head coach. He looks like a good X&O guy, but hasn’t shown he can actually build a program at his previous stops. But if he makes the final 4, Texas has no choice to hire him otherwise they will look terrible as a program for firing a guy who makes it that far..
