The pros I can remember bouncing seemed to fit two categories:
1) Rotation or bench players who got short contracts and took what was offered. They moved out of necessity, not choice.
2) Headcases.

Does anyone have clear example of a solid starter bouncing teams almost every year who wasn't a head case? They may well exist. I just can't think of any.

Before someone says "Ish", yes he played real minutes. For me Ish is still case #1. He was frequently waived, or on 1 year contracts. I think he was also padding in a few multi-player deals.
Jim Jackson (650/850 GS), Rich Hill (250/388 GS) & Joe Smith (620/1030 GS) come to mind.

I also think a good chunk of these 5 in 5 players are some mix of head cases and/or bag chasers.

Jim Jackson - Mostly a head case. I'm a starter and I want to win. Did not re-sign and/or demanded trade from any team that wasn't going to make the playoffs or did not have him as the starter. He got a rep. There were multiple seasons in the middle without any contract and he was only picked up to fill in for injuries (thus starting).

Rich Hill - no idea who this is. Searches are not finding them.

Joe Smith - Almost all of his moves were in his declining years. Case #1. The early moves were because he was caught in a cap evading scandal (MN) and they had to divest.
