You would think that the long list of baseball injuries was due to a shortened spring training but a lot of them are just weird. Including Mr. "Can't Stay On the Field" Nico Hoerner running into an ump. At least they don't have a whole team of these players like the White Sox.
I'm waiting for someone to say that they need to be on the IL because of the old Jose Cardenal injury: eyelids were frozen open and he couldn't blink or sleep.
4-13 in 1-run games.
Generally when I see a team that bad in 1-run games, I look at the bullpen, but the pen has largely been very good.
Also weirdly 7-16 at home.
I always thought everything south of Roosevelt Rd was downstate.

Definitely getting better results lately....13-11 since the 9-18 start.
That start was some bad luck, bad injuries and one really brutal 2 week stretch of schedule.
Unfortunately, I don’t think this team has consistent enough starting pitching (especially with Miley and Smyley hurt) or consistent enough offense to string together the type of run they’d need to make up for that start.
More likely, they’ll play right around .500 for the 45-ish games from now to the trade deadline, stay right around 6-7 games out of a playoff spot, sell off Contreras and a few other parts near the deadline, and then be truly putrid for the remainder of the season.
It’s too bad because they could have chosen to put together a more competitive team by spending a bit more in free agency and because this team has been quite a bit more fun to watch than the walking dead zombie 2016 team that they’ve put out there the last two or three seasons.

If you're going to stink, might as well be one of the worst
They were talking about this last week on the Score. Would you all consider the Cubs the best bad team in baseball? Only the Royals, A's, Nationals, and Reds have a worse win percentage right now than the Cubs.
When you play a Triple A lineup in the Majors, this is what happens.
