Everyone who touched that trade seems to be cursed. Sox got AJ Pollock for Kimbrel, which should have been a nice trade, but Pollock had the worst year of his career with the Sox. Something could still come of Heuer, I suppose.

Why is Miles Mastrobuoni on this roster let alone staring in a game that IMO was very important to win ? I realize it was a day game after a night game but the lineup they put out there was pathetic. Let's face it. This is not a very good team.

Maybe they will have one of those illogical improvement in play scenarios because they are going to be playing the best team (thus far) in baseball. Or they will get swept again. I remember being cautiously optimistic before the season, and of course when they came out of the gate strong. Currently the optimism was partially correct, the second wildcard team is only 2 games over .500 (Marlins) The target so far isn't high, but we are lower.

OTOH it's an incredibly long season, anything can happen.

I'm sorry but if you're going to pencil in Mastrobuoni almost everyday at the top of the lineup you might as well have kept Madrigal up here.
We have 3 starters, 1 1/2 relievers, no closer and a lineup like this. We are a step above Oakland.

Stroman saved Ross’ bacon by tossing a 1-hit CG shut out.

Ross stacked the lineup with lefties against a rookie right hander. Generally you only do that against the elite right handers like a DeGrom or a Scherzer who has savage splits against right handers. But this kid had extreme reverse splits with right handers OPS .917 and left handers OPSing .438.

Sitting Wisdom and Morel for Rios and Mastrobuoni is inexplicable. Left handers went 0-18 today. Right handers went 3 for 8.

That line up was a fireable offense.

Wisdom has been known to hit HR's in bunches. 2 yesterday. Mastro played third today. Ross should take Stro out for dinner.

The only reason I can think that Ross is playing these guys is to show Hoyer look at the crap your giving me. Thank God they didn't have to go to the bullpen.

This is one in a long list of fireable offenses. Ross does not know how to put togther a lineup. He has made way too many managerial mistakes even though players are not preforming to their ability levels. This may be due to their lack of understanding as to who plays and when. They have way to many players who should not be taking regular at bats or pitching for a team that is playoff worthy. Rios for one, Mastro another and the bullpen has several such players.

Ross is still learning the job which is unacceptable and he is not capable of leading this team to a playoff birth, despite the fact that the divison will probalby be won by a team just slightly above 500.
