Da'Monte Williams (2017 PG) commits to Illinois
Such great news! After a too-long drought, Groce has brought in consecutive PGs. If he can pull in a big or two, the recruiting ship will be righted.
Despite the crapfest that this season has been, it's great to see the team keep fighting and playing hard even though they are playing for nothing but pride.

So those that thought JCL probably couldn't actually play point, regardless that so many said he is a combo that could play point, can Damonte actually play point? I know he is not a pure pg, but will he be a 1 or 2 for us?

I believe DaMonte is totally different. He can definitely play point, imo. He's a REAL combo and has run a lot of point in HS. If fact, probably fits very well with what Groce wants in a point.

Thanks. Not what I wanted to hear, but oh, well. Should've put the query in the recruiting thread.
I hope he takes over the point. It certainly worked to have a big, strong 1 and a smaller 2 with DWill and Dee. Certainly not saying they are that level, but being a smaller 2 is doable, as Dee proved when playing with DWill.
The power 5 schools are recruiting the top 1-5 PGs and MCAA at this time. The other top 50 programs probably not going to waste a lot of time going after Frank Williams son when they know Illinois is going to recruit him hard. Imagine Illlinois going after a former Indiana star player's son who lives 45 minutes from Bloomington.
If D Williams pg skills improve I can see a jump in ratings. His size and athleticism are very good for a PG.
His pg rating is not as high as it could be because, I believe, he doesn't exclusively play og for Manual as I think he is one of their taller players and they need him elsewhere.

Was very excited when I got online and seen this last night!! Welcome aboard Mr Williams!! Can't wait to see you in the O&B. If what a couple of posters are hinting at comes true, and the dominoes start falling, this could go down as the most important recruit that Groce ever lands
