I'm all for going back to a defense like we had (3-4 variation) or a traditional 4-3. 4-2-5 also wouldn't be bad. I don't think I need to see a 3-3-5 again.

I have mixed emotions, but I really do think Bret made the right move today. Sounds like Hauck didnā€™t want to coach at all anymore. Bret canā€™t have his players, especially his stars like Bailey who came back for one more year, be that upset with their coach. Maybe Bret can bring in one of his former assistants, someone he really trusts, to try to adjust the scheme and implement some changes so that it will work better. Or, maybe Bret, himself, who has been a defensive coordinator at both Kansas State and Wisconsin and has the knowledge and experience to take over, takes charge for the rest of the season. I donā€™t think he will just hand it over to one of Hauckā€™s assistants without some definite adjustments being madeā€¦

I wonder if BB will appoint himself the interim DC and let Lunney run the offense.

Well said and yes I am going to be that guy. Could have been completely avoided... multiple times. Bret's loyalty to his people ultimately caused this downstream absolute debacle.

Should have canned Henry before the bowl (and in reality after his first season in 23') we were sold Hauck as mentioned above and here we are without a scheme playcaller in the building and multiple coaches who 100% will not be here next year.

Feel very much for the players who worked their asses off to switch positions, learn a new scheme and some have their draft stock killed (see Xavier Scott pre/post this scheme) this falls squarely on Bert and may waste his best draft prospect QB we've had in years too.

I was really skeptical when we hired BB, but what he has done here has been fantastic.

That said, Henry and Hauck were both head scratchers from the get go.

Donā€™t overthink it on this next hire.

not necessarily. hiring from the pool is largely a timing issue. we should be able to get our new DC before the rush is on. we'll see, but I'm guessing Coach B is going to bring in a good DC
