Going forward this season, I'm not sure what we will learn about what ailed us with Hauck at the helm, but we will learn something. So many factors go into a defense from the scheme, the personnel, the mindset of both, the coaching, the timing of all of the above in game situations... etc. A mid-season firing usually is an even bigger setback than a bad fit, but Brett gets paid to make those decisions and live or die by them. I guess we'll have the rest of the season to observe and opine on what his dismissal tells us about our early season woes.

Another way to look at it is that we just won the most games over a two year period ever, and bielema refuses to settle. His desire to correct mistakes quickly and keep winning could/should be seen as an attractive quality.

Lol. Don’t over think it. Defense has not been good. Too many communication issues and personnel issues that can’t happen(consistently )

The business is what it is. There is zero room for doubt or half-measures and all parties knew better than to think this could be an exception.

I would really love to hear more about the appeal of this guy to the coaching staff. BB has some stones for making this call, and it's the right one. No margin for error with the next DC hire.

So, with Hauck out, will his boys fly the Coop? No pun intended, ehhh well...

I'm just curious to see if Brett has some sort of contingency. Knowing his type you would think he would have something up his sleeve, although personnel is what it is. I'd hope for some shift in application at the least, but from the sounds of it, looks like Brett is DC now.

I can’t see them sticking around, but I suppose they do due to contracts etc… either way does Brett bring someone in mid season to shore this thing up up or just roll with the current staff?
