Track and field outdoor facilities have been poor since they moved out of Memorial stadium. No locker rooms. No permanent concessions. Porta potties for fans and competitors. A few metal high school bleachers on the side opposite the finish line. P.A. system and scoreboard that rarely worked. Illinois rarely hosted home meets due to the poor facilities. This new facility was much needed.
