No post game needed. Just this. Our roster construction is brutal and it's a team completely opposite of what Brad wants. He likes older guys, experienced guys, guys who will punch you in the mouth if needed, guys who hold themselves accountable and he brings freshman along slowly.

I suspect that this little experiment that is completely outside of his comfort zone is over. They have no edge, no confidence, no swagger and quite frankly no heart. Was there a hard foil anywhere? Did ANY of our guys get fired up?.

I'm sure the kids on our team are really nice guys, but they've been flat out bullied since the second half of MSU. Nobody seems to want to be the guy who lights a fire.

Right, if you are ok with what you just watched and the trajectory of our program, you are either a Northwestern fan or a memeber of the underwood family.

This honestly is the reason why Ben is getting so much tick. Brad has always been extremely biased towards "individual defensive efficiency" which is just a fancy way of saying "+/-" because unlike individual offensive efficiency, that's how defensive efficiency is calculated except on a per possession basis. Ben has the 3rd best defensive +/- when he's on the court and takes the highest quality 3s on the team. That's why he's getting 30mpg. And it's primarily because the "analytical" stat that Brad points to the most as important is considered one of the most junk stats by people actually with a background in analytics. And that's why Brad is so stubborn, because by his own metrics Ben is one of the best players on the team, despite it being plain and clear to everyone that that is not the case. And it's all based on an almost complete garbage stat. I'll get off my soapbox now.

What good would that do? The players will mostly be gone within 5 weeks. The players are 10 strangers who met up for the first time this past April.Whereas the geniuses who GAVE us this roster will be back.

I'd say the coaches are the ones who get 100.0% of the credit for this.

A few observations:
Epic mismatch in talent. Not one, NOT ONE Illini player would start for Duke. KJ Tomi and Will might make the team but would ride the end of the bench.

KJ and Will played an NBA team today and looked completely overmatched.

Every team in NCAA basketball knows Illinois can't hit three pointers so don't bother to guard it. Did Duke contest even one three-pointer? Our three-point shots were always wide open. Doesn't matter. Truley pathetic.

The formula to beat Illinois is simple: double team KJ and pack it in so that Illinois is left only to shoot three pointers. Can we beat anyone at this point?

As usual we played very hard from wire to wire. Our defensive effort was there but couldn't stop an NBA team.

Lol. Illini fans are comical. Underwood ain't going nowhere. This team is exactly where I thought they would be at this point. This team had only two returnees and one guy who started every game last year decided to redshirt. Underwood got a bunch of role players from the portal. None of these guys are all conference types. The four freshman with potential are woefully inconsistent. You can blame better competition or they have hit the proverbial wall. This team is soft and when their offense is non-existent their defense is pathetic. This team has a bunch of quitters who don't compete or handle adversity when they get punched in the mouth. The sad thing is all they have to do is beat Iowa to win 18 games and 10 wins in conference and they are a lock for the NCAA TOURNAMENT!!

It’s disappointing how so many people here want a domestic abuser to be our leader. Not surprising anymore… but definitely disappointing.
