Morez, Tomi, Boswell, DGL, Ty and Tre coming back would be a horrible team. By keeping all those players you are not allowed to bring in better talent (because they would leave). For instance, if you keep DGL and Boswell then you can’t bring in a stud point guard (because they both wouldn’t stay). So you can only keep one if you are going to upgrade at the position.

Had to laugh at this. It doesn’t matter what team it is. This regression shown by a Brad Underwood coached Illini team is one of the worst. Calling folks idiots because they are tired of bs coaching is a joke. Sack up and be real. BU has everything, yet he pulled a Lovie and feels he’s somebody because he went to the Elite 8 to be embarrassed. He hasn’t done much 8n the big dance. Flirting with other gigs, elevating kid and buddy to actual AC positions and then an epic regression deserves the fans putting him on the hot seat.
In the Big Dance tho…which BU is coaching the team out of. Solid!
I think the biggest thing for me is that November we played Alabama and today we played Duke. 2 Top 5 teams, 2 teams that will make deep March runs. November we were flawed but balanced and stayed in there with Alabama. Honestly, if a couple things go the right way, we could win that game. Tonight, not even in the ballpark. Just totally had our doors blown off. Obviously illness and injury has lots to do with it, but we need to figure out how we went from that team in November to what we have now.
And Duke has much higher talent. Much higher. Of course, a pathetically weak coaching staff doesn't help. Really sacraig, what Illini player could start on that Duke team?
It’s crazy that at this point I’ll be excited with 1 win in the tournament. I’ll pop some champagne for it. 2 and making it to the Sweet 16 would be a miracle.

Tonight was another trending performance of embarrassingly undisciplined play headlined by an immature approach on both offense and defense led by 2 inept , unqualified AC's who are clearly out of their league and paygrade level with no idea how to coach at this level..........
What was the game plan on offense ???..........continue to chuck up off balance 3 pter's to the tune of 2 for 50 ???..........dribble east to west for 75 % of the game instead of north to south......????...........offer up a bushel basket of unforced turnovers ????...........what was the plan ??.......I , for the life of me never had a clue what it was all night long...........
What was the game plan on defense ?????.........play matador defense and wear puke down with them getting 50 points on uncontested layups ???..........letting the puke reserves come in and dominate our starters so they would get the big head and lose their concentration ??.......................
Josh should buyout both TU and Hamer's contracts tonight and tell them to stay away from all team functions for the rest of the season and all future seasons........................
Random thoughts concerning the rest of the season...........
1...we could lose all remaining games on our schedule....I have zero confidence that we are tough enough or have the ability to match or exceed any team we have left to play's aggressiveness or effort on the court....something is seriously wrong with this group of underachieving athletes that needs to be brought out publicly NOW to start whatever healing process is needed.......
2....KJ's recent play has taken him out of lottery pick level and maybe also 1st round worthiness......his absurd amount of unenforced errors would be very concerning to me if I was an NBA GM making decisions on who to draft and in what round......
3...Will Riley is not ready for the NBA and might need 2 mores year in college before being ready for an 82 game grind and daunting travel days.....his thin frame will take a beating and lead to many injuries.......
4...it could be time for ole pru to put my dancing shoes away for the rest of this disappointing season..........17-15 season record is lurking in the weeds along with all the excuses and excuses and excuses.........has the injury and flu bug bites taken it's toll....probably , but our roster construction should have covered for that.......unfortunately it hasn't.........but look over at the WBB Illini with major losses of Cook , Dolan , Bollin and the 6'3" transfer out before the season even started.....the WBB are a wonderful example of how to take misfortune and turning it into a strength of cohesiveness and connection.........
5...Maybe BU has lost his aggressiveness and directional bearing as the Illini HC..........8 year itch ???....who knows but the alarming non competitive amount of double digit losses could be an albatross on his shoulder to big for him to overcome , even with the success of last years Elite 8........

Will some someone please tell Brad the reason why we shoot a higher percentage from 3 in practice than games is because Illinois is horrible at guarding the three so the practice shots are wide open and then in games they have a defense playing against them.

In just one short week, between the play on the court and the upside down jersey ceremony, Josh and Brad have made us the laughingstock of college basketball. All that gravitas down the drain.
Here's a question for Josh. "In the Whitman era we've had 3 sports on campus where the head coach has hired a relative to be an assistant coach - Football (Lovie & son), Volleyball (Chris & wife), and Basketball (Brad & son). In each instance, the hiring corresponded to serious deterioration in the program's performance. Any thoughts on banning the practice?"

I too felt just plain sad as I watched this game unfold. Wondering how it felt to be on the team getting blown out on national television, although aside from Duke fans I am guessing quite a few viewers were switching to another channel. Playing for the team suffering the worst loss ever in program history. Were players wondering if this would impact their potential draft status? Were some of them pondering where they might look to play next year? I thought about Rez and how he let us know as a sophomore how much he wanted to wear the orange and blue. I would be so sad if he decided to leave. Kylan coming home to play for his hometown team. This is the new world of college basketball and I know this is the way it will be. Some years all the pieces will fit well together and some they will not. I hope Shauna and her staff can continue to have players stay loyal to her program and play multiple years. That they will take pride in being an Illini. I am just glad I was around to watch the Flyin' Illini and cheer for Dee and Darin and Luther. For Ayo and Trent.

Not saying you're wrong but its 2 out of 3 seasons like this where the team has fallen apart halfway through the season.
The one in between was an incredibly fun one but a player like Terrence Shannon returning for a 5th year is pretty fluky.
I like Brad but I'm starting to question if his recruiting ability has been nullified a bit by NIL and the portal allowing other coaches that don't recruit as well to build similarly talented teams while being better X's and O's coaches than Brad.
Sad state of affairs when at least two fairly prolific posters block a guy (I, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, of New Orleans, Louisiana, am the guy in question)) over posting an actual police report (sorry I hurt your and/or Chris Beard's feelings Oracle21 and NashvILLe05 ).
