Yet somehow it works in pro sports. Why not try what’s proven effective? Or am I missing something? Does it not work in pro leagues?

They caught him, so in that sense it 'works'. But in no way do I think the Clippers are the only ones doing it.

I don’t like to the defense but to be fair no defense would look good with this talent. What’s a major concern is our experienced and highly paid secondary has not looked good.
oh no I agree the talent is not there. I just don't want to hear how well we tackled, when it is clear that we have been among the worst in the country at tackling.

I think it was 20 missed tackles last week. Not tackling in camp doesn’t help but Kreutz is in his 5th year of college football. This still shouldn’t be an issue for a lot of these guys

Does it? Take the NBA as an example. They have 30 teams and a dedicated enforcement staff, yet they are currently dealing with an infraction. The NCAA, by contrast, has more than 1000 basketball programs (360 in Div. I alone) and a skeleton enforcement staff. That same staff must also oversee thousands of athletes from 20, or more, other sports. A salary cap might help, but it won't level the playing field.

there are ways to govern this properly
it involves
1. a players union & a CBA
2. players agreeing to submit tax returns & bank statements
3. schools agreeing to audits from CPA firms

Did Duke make a defensive adjustment at half time to take away the slant? It was sick how easy that yardage was in the first half. Did we complete even a single slant in the second half?
The biggest adjustment was to take away Dixon. If you watched, they always had a safety over the top. We needed to find a way to get other receivers open and not force it to Dixon and beat them that way. 2 total catches for TE's. 2 for RB's.

Dixon is going to see a lot of double coverage going forward. He's a beast and will get the ball but Houser is going to have to stop forcing it to him until they're forced to zone or single coverage because others are open.

In fairness, it seems Illinois is slightly ahead of the Broncos.

Can't really blame the staff for the passing attack falling apart in the second half. They brought in receivers, the guys just got hurt.

Losing Perry sucks. We need Platt back and contributing before the MSU game.

A salary cap won't solve the issue. Some teams will just ignore it - much like they ignored the earlier rules prohibiting payment to players.
Not to be contrarian, but how do the major leagues make it work? Contracts . . . . That have to be approved by the league office. I'm also not in support of this business model - the operative term being business. Look back thru my posts the last few years and I've been very vocal that we are witnessing the demise of college athletics real time . . .

Not blaming the staff for that. My point is, they need to find a way to get others that they do have involved.
