9-9 in big12 is not too much different from 8-10 in big 10. That is where a team cannot defend can get to at best. BU has not built a team with top 50(or even 100) defense nationally so he needs to prove a lot more here before called a "good coach".

Well, he started 0-6 in conference and finished with a 9-3 run. I think his team learned how to play the game.

They had as much or more talent then we did last year.

Why can't he make the argument. You make the argument that SFA didn't have quality players. That's absurd. They had as much or more talent then we did last year.

Come on dude(ette)!!! I'm not going to take the time to poke a big giant hole into your false statement, but I'm sure someone will.:thumb: Besides that, which of those two head coaches is currently coaching our team?

I think one (small) silver lining to these recent recruiting Ls is that DJ Williams is much more likely to stay. I can see him contributing in surprising ways next year. He oozes of athleticism and talent, let's hope he likes coach Underwood and reaches his potential. He could even start next year.

Te'jon/Frazier
JCL/AJ/Frazier
Kipper/Williams
Black/Kipper/Williams
Finke/Black

Pardon me for not thinking the ship is sinking with that lineup and this coach. This team could be sneaky fun and competitive as a small ball transition team.

It will be interesting to see what Antigua can do for Finke's improvement. Think his possible contribution is under estimated. Cannot see Black as back-up center. He would foul out quickly. Would like to see DJW as the backup (if no recruit) because of his athletic ability. Would also believe Pickett and DaW will be factors or redshirted.

I mean, that's this past years team plus a true freshman Frazier minus 2 or 3 of our best players. This years team that was not good. To have ANY chance at the tournament, we need all 5 starters to take BIG steps forward next year. Is any ONE of them currently in the top half of Big 10 starters at their position?

Not just harping on you alone, I've seen several comments like this. But why is it that people do not take into account the fact that we will be running an entirely new system next year when comparing last year to next? I feel like the new system plays to some of our strengths. I also feel like some of our players, if not all of them, will be thrilled with the playing style. We lost some of our best 'individual' players from last year. I don't know that that is necessarily going to be a detriment to how we will play this year.

We may end up a bit worse individually next season, but it would be really tough to end up worse as a team. If the improvements on the team side of things are greater than the decrease in individual talent, then we should still have a better overall season. Time will tell.

I think people put way too much stock in experience. Talented Freshman play all over the country...and love TA and MH, but defaulting to either of them for end of clock situations rarely worked. We will have a major upgrade in talent next year, a major upgrade in system, and an excitement around the program which is palpable, whether or not Smith signs on. I believe momentum is a very real thing not only in games but in seasons....and from the Winthrop game on, the 16-17 Illini never recovered.

Next year will be the first time players really play players...there is no upperclass loyalty. I don't think its too outrageous to see DJW stay and play due to his skill set, Black still plays but probably just be a disrupter and don't worry about fouling out, we aren't expecting you to play 25 minutes a game anyway. Play 12-15, have 5 rebounds, 6 points, frustrate the opposition, and collect 3 to 5 fouls in that time. He may or may not like that role.

JCL may also be one regular who sees minutes reduced because of his lack of dribbling ability. Now, he may come in and score 12 points in about 8 minutes of critical play, but he's like those 4th outfielders the Cubs used to have that everyone loved (Reid Johnson, Sam Fuld, Tony Campenella)..great in a limited role, but extended time gets exposed. he'll have a critical role, but is he willing to stick around and average 8 points in 15 minutes as a junior and senior? He seems like a well adjusted young man, so maybe he is.

I'll be disappointed in anything lower than a 5-8th place and squarely in the tourney.
1. I'd love to believe this could just magically happen. I'd be surprised; Pleasantly!

2. I had a Cardinal buddy laugh at me a few years ago when we got Fowler because he thought we got another Reed (I'm done going off topic)

3. That record doesn't feel to optimistic but it
easy to feels attainable

I am really hoping we can add a couple more guys so they can both RS, I just want DaWill 100% healthy, and I would love to see Pickett get a year just to get stronger and fill out. I think both of them are going to be very very good players, I will not be shocked at all if Pickett RS to see him leave as a top 10 score

I think this hits it right on the head, instead of watching stand around and dribble and one on one basketball we will see a system ran. We for a change will not see the OH its been 4 mins you come out even if you have scored our last 10 points. Do I think we will get to the NCAA at this time no it will depend on who else we can add to the team, but we will be a better basketball team next year and better coached

Without all pieces in place , way we stand atm, I see .500 big ten team. We would defend home court because our crowd will be rockin SFC. This is where our non conference will really come into play. We get a good blend and guys mesh well, 10 wins makes us NCAA tournament team. I know we have a lot of time B4 it all starts but we have the key ingredients already in place. Frazier, Smith and. Williams, unproven but ready for staff to point in right direction. Veterans already know what to expect to a degree, so they will give new guys something to shoot for. Sprinkle with whatever is to come, add some good direction, we should have a good time watching this team grow. Input always welcome.:chief:
Braggin rights game will be our Xmas party.;)
