Welp, that transfer deadline day became an absolute shitshow for Everton.
And Chelsea and Monaco and Erik Lira.

The entire saga is wild. Everton cited some vague issue with Balo's medical to try and renegotiate the deal and also look into an alternative. Monaco neeed some money and to clear a non-EU roster spot (to make space for Erik Lira with whom they had agreed terms) so they agreed a deal for to sell Lamine Camara to Chelsea (as a replacement for Enzo Fernandez who moved to Man City) when they became worried Balo's transfer wouldn't happen. The Balo alternative didn't work out so Everton agreed revised terms (reduction in fee I think) with Monaco for Balo, so Monaco reneged on the Camara deal with Chelsea. Then at the 11th hour Balo said "no thanks" to the Everton move because he was upset (understandably I think) about how he'd been treated by Everton and concerned about his long term future there, which means Monaco can't sign Erik Lira, who for the time being will not get to achieve his dream of playing in Europe and is stuck in the Liga MX.

Towards the end of the window, Balo's issue may have also been about Everton looking into going after Zirzkee which Man U quickly said no to due to the short turnaround time they would have to replace him. I did see earlier how Manco is rightly pissed at Balo for all of this and may force him to move to Turkey or the Saudi league.

So Everton is down to one true striker until January unless they can find someone on a free transfer or call up someone from their U21 squad.
