Played and guarded against Revie several times myself. Amazing how that body could dunk, flat-footed. Very nice and funny guy, but no regard for rules of the game. Camped under the basket and never moved. Subtle suggestions that he might want to move out if the lane at least once every five minutes fell on deaf ears. We all just joked about it. Took about a minute to go around him to try and front him after he backed you under the hoop, then he just nudged you out of the way again like he was brushing away a fly. Sad to read and hear about his major health issues and recent loss within his family.

He could dance too! I remember him winning at least one dance contest. Didn't know he was having health issues. Like you said, a good guy and pretty terrifying when that huge body rose above you for a dunk.

So if we lose to Northwestern today, will that make for the worst 8 days in the history of major Illinois mens's sports with 5 straight losses?

Crazy "record" but you might be right. Was at NW game today to witness part of that of the "record". Saw Whitman going into the game. He didn't have Groce with him.:)

time for a change

Back to b-ball. Tate is surely the worst point guard in the Big 10. Tracy should play the 1 or TJL and Tate should be used for foul trouble only or handing out water. If we go 4-5 as it looks, Groce should switch things up and go to a younger line-up to develop for next year. I still can't believe how bad we looked in all our games, except Hill's 40... and if he didn't take over that game, we would be 3-4 right now. I am not saying the season is over, but we need to get some momentum on the floor. With all the pre-season hype, one look at the stat sheets of each game shows how weak we are in all the "controllables" Groce likes to focus on. I don't think we lack talent, just everything else. I wonder what a good coach could do with this squad. So sad.

I know Groce is playing for his job but I wish we could just blow it up and play the young guys.

I want to see more of TJL, DJW, and AJ to see what they're made of.

I dont get what TJL has done wrong... I'll admit I dont understand the finer points of defense but TJL is clearly a better ball handler and scorer. So the only things I'll give Tate a tick in are defense and vision. Still, it's not like tate is a shutdown defender... see: Winthrop. And I know come conference play our PG's are gonna look silly, but we know what Tates gonna give us in Conference play, I say let TJL prove he deserves some conference minutes.

I'd like to see more Black, which I think will happen. If he wasn't suspended, he'd be playing 25+ mins by now. Hes so much fun to watch on both ends of the court. That being said, its hard to find minutes for DJW and AJ. I can see DJW getting decent minutes, but I think Abrams steals too much at the two away from AJ, mostly barbecue JCL will get his time (though admittedly I think AJ has played just as good as JCL this year).

I believe there are 2 reasons Lucas hasn't seen more action until late. Number one, Tate is a hardworking kid who's been in the program for 3 years. I believe you have to let kids who work hard and promoted your program a chance to succeed or fail. Second, Lucas may still be less than 100%. Just my opinion.
