I think this is the take most of us need to have. I had season tickets in the same spot for 20 years. I did “everything right” and my seats were still taken (like 30 hours before my time). So, my family of seven had to move up like 10 rows and take seats in two rows to get similar seats that’s were near each other.
At the time, this was frustrating. Loyalty seems to mean noting, and money means everything.
But, as I sit back and think about it a week later, I probably would have been pissed had another school done this, it worked well, and they got better recruits as a result.
My hope is that the money I gave is used well. With Josh and Bret, I think it’s good money. So, I spent on average $35ish more dollars on tickets if you include the donation on the cost. I’m still paying $100 less than some other teams who provide much less entertainment. Probably won’t by as many concessions this year, though (spoiler: I will…)
This will all work out, and after the first few games of everyone getting to know the people around them again, we’ll all be fine.
